Guys and gals:
I've been conversing with the Veg and early on with Vonnie on this, but I want to put it in front of the membership. This is really bothering me, and I'm pretty sure it's not normal, so I can expect to deal with it in depth sometime in the future. I'll try my best to describe the issue, then please, ya'll help!
Runs out fine, no issues with clutch, shifting, etc. Picture yourself running along, sixty-ish in some traffic. The bozo in front of you piles on brakes. This is no big issue with you, cuz you're plenty far back. You just get off the gas completely, and start looking for the next move, whatever it may be. The throttle clears, the gears mesh and you are backing down good in five, no worries about a wreck, then whaaaammmm, it feels like you just downshifted to fourth gear. But you didn't. You're still in five, and the rest is just like it should be. Go to four, no problem. Back on the gas in five, no problem. It feels like some sort of horrific gear lash, but there is no reverse reaction, in other words, when it does it (which is every time you get off the gas in five), you can get right back on the gas and it doesn't lurch in the opposite like lash going back the other way. My earlier descrip included a reference to a hot rod Camaro with a shift kit dropping from three to two. This is exactly what it feels like. No noise, nothing overtly rude or sharp about it; feels like an auto tranny with a shift kit in the routine of downshifting. It is a soft shift, but VERY pronounced, and VERY noticeable.
Any ideas or comments would be very much appreciated. Thank you all, and happy holidays.
