Sue,

I looked up the hotels in the vicinity of the Rally Site ( Washington County Fair Park ) and found that none of them are taking any reservations. They all say ..
"We are sorry, there are no rooms available at this hotel for the dates selected. You may search other dates to find availabilityes?"

What gives?

Did you try Country Inn and Suites in PortWashington? (262) 284-2100
They had rooms as of last week. Its a little over 15 miles to the rally site.

I guess I will apply and seek resrvations at other places. It's just that I was surprized that so many Hotels would be booked up so early, unless Sue had the rooms on reserve for the Rally and not open for booking yet. Hence the question.

Try in Hartford, Fond du Lac, Lomira, and Grafton Wisconsin. All are within a 30 minute drive of the Fair grounds. Yes, it does sound like it is filling up quickly.

If the hotels are filling up so fast, I'd beter hustle and book a place quickly so I can roll up, check in, soak the sore butt, quench the thirst with a couple of cools ones and unwind.

I have been to a few National rallys and when looking for lodging I have found that the BMWMOA will have a big block of rooms reserved.
Thats always been fine with me because they are working the rally.

But I have also found that some Big BMW clubs will also have bolcks of rooms reserved before the rally dates and location were announced.

It pays to have friends on the BOD. :doh

But then again I have said that I am with the BMW club and got a room.
Some times they want a password, but sometimes they forget to ask. :evil

????

I have never heard of this.

Of course the future rally locations are one of the confidential items that we just can't seem to keep confidential. Personally I hate all the "me first" crap and "I'll let you in a secret" stuff that surrounds the national, to me everyone should have the same chance at having a great time and any "perks" should be for the folks that put the rally on. It wouln't surprise me if in the past people in the know (board, rally site selction team) give their local buddies a wink and a nod so they can book good stuff first.

The MOA does hold out one hotel for paid staff, committee chairs and the Ambassadors. All other hotels should be first come first served.

I will add that in recent years as the rally has grown in size the surrounding hotels do get booked up very quickly. consider that in Vermont we had 9300 in attendance but probably no more than 6000 campers, if that many.

Best,

The MOA also has an information booth at the International Rally providing information on the next year's rally. In Vermont the Wisconsin rally booth was handing out all kinds of information regarding the area including a list of nearby motel/hotels with contact information. I know many people called from VT to book their rooms for WI.

Hey Hey, everyone. Let's just take a deep breath, okay? There. Feel better?
Good. I know that I certainly do.

I think there are more than 20 hotels within 18 miles or so of the rally grounds. From that point, the number of hotels and motels explodes. The Washington County Fair Park is on the northern edge of the city of Milwaukee, where there are easily 25,000 rooms.

The full list of the nearest hotels will be printed in the January BMW Owners News. After it has been in print, Vince will then post it to the BMW MOA web page.

Thanks for your patience.

I just made a RSVP @ the County Inn & Suites in Port Washington, WI....use their internet site (www.countyinns.com) as it will save you $1.00 a night on Thursday and $11.00 per night on Friday and Saturday vs. calling and making a RSVP over the phone.

Reservations will change and will be available. I made mine after someone else canceled and posted an availability on the forum.

That might help. If you already made a reservation and have to cancel it out - put a notice on the forum. Then again, I doubt if we will fill all the rooms in Milwaukee.

Consider contacting hotels/motels directly. National reservation systems and online systems rarely reflect the entire inventory of a hotel. This allows management wiggle room for out of service rooms and special conditions. These off-line rooms may be available by contacting the front desk reservations at a hotel.

I have a reservation I plan to cancel at the Country Inn in West Bend. It is for 2 rooms and the rate is about $120 per night. Not cheap but close to the rally. I have the details at home ... I am still at work right now. If interested let me know as I have not cancelled yet.

GSin NC, that was very nice of you to offer the place. Please give me a day to decide...I had made reservation at another place far from the Rally, but a lot cheaper. Let me think about it for a day.

I got a double room at Cedar Valley Retreat Center today. 2 double beds, private bath, no TV (This is a Retreat Center at a retirement village) They had Harley riders there in the past and it was a positive deal for them, so they opened up the center to BMW rally folks. Room was $85 a night. They have a pole building to park bikes inside, if desired. It appears to be about 13-14 miles from the rally site.

Hello Everyone

Since I live near the Rally site (about 30 miles) I can tell you there are plenty of rooms available here.

A quick search on Hotels.com yielded hotels in Germantown, WI (very close to the Rally site) at about $110.00 per night.

Other cities you might want to try to search are Wauwatosa (pronounced wa-wa-tosa) Menononee Falls and Brookfield, which is are western suburbs of Milwaukee and have GREAT freeway access.

Saukville and Port Washington are about 20 East of the Rally site as well.

Happy Surfing! :type

Do you know anything about Iron Ridge? That is where we found cheaper rooms. Sounds nice but you never know.

Never heard of Iron Ridge.

In Wauwatosa, there are a few places on Bluemound Road that are probably less expensive and nice - There's a place called the 40 Winks and another place called Sleepy Hollow. Both are nice quiet places near things to do and places to eat. Easy freeway access as well.

You can check out other hotels at the West Suburban Chamber of Commerce here: http://www.westsuburbanchamber.com/

There are a few hotels on a Silver Spring Drive and Lovers Lane near Hy 45 that I wouldn't want to park my bike there overnight - this is what I call an "active area" after dark.

I know this first hand because I did some consulting work for a security firm a few years back and these hotels were...well..."active". There's a strip club in the neighborhood and that adds a certain amount of activity and excitment in the early hours of the morning. :hungover

The Hilton Garden at Park Place is nice: http://www.milwaukeeparkplace.gardeninn.com/

As is the Radison on Mayfair Road - Right across from one of our nicest malls: http://www.radisson.com/milwaukeewi_west

The accomadations at Holy Hill (http://www.holyhill.com) are very simple but it's probably one of the most visually stunning places in SE Wisconsin with a great cafe that's known for it's pies. This would be my own personal choice.

The roads leading to it are spectacular and unforgiving. Hogsback road is well named and you're first pass over this road should be done with great care. Many rusic roads in the area.

Once at Holy Hilll you can climb the stairs to the top of the spire (some 300 steps) and catch a very spectacular view at the top. If you're affraid of heights the climb isn't for you. Not for the faint of heart (literaly!)

Holy Hill - Guest Rooms - National Shrine
1525 Carmel Road & Hwy 167 (Holy Hill Road)
Hubertus, WI 53033

Phone 262-628-1838

Even if you don't stay at Holy Hill, it should be on your list of places to visit while attending the Rally.

Hope this helps!

GSinNC,

I live about 10 miles from Iron Ridge and it is a very nice little town. There is a gas station, restaurants, etc. It is a short drive to the Rally sight. :type

Mike's Motorsports is not far from there. He isn't a BMW dealler but if you need anything in an emergency for the bike he may be able to help. Mischler's is in Beaver Dam, WI and they are a dealer for BMW. I get all of my spare parts there.

Did you call or just go on-line? When I looked on-line I got the same info from all the sites I visited. But when I called and spoke to a human, mentioned the BMW Group they had rooms. I'm at the Country Inn in Germantown.

I got a room with two double beds for $85 a night at Cedar Valley Retreat Center. Resevations were made on 12-28-06. No TV, it's a retreat center. Pole building on site to park bike in if needed. It's about 13-14 miles from the rally site. They are listed on the Rally Hotels list.

I find this comment a little odd, as typically hotels will not make reservations more than a year out. I know this from trying to book hotels for work for trade shows. The rallies are now announced more than a year in advance, including the Wisconsin one.
