High-energy ignition coils for 1977 R100S

Where can I find high-energy, high-voltage ignition coils for my 1977 R100S that are simple bolt on items in place of the OEM units? :usa

On my old airheads I just swapped the MC ones for blue VW coils. Really didn't notice much of a change at all to be honest with you, but then the old MC coils were still good when I swapped them out.

I have been tihinking about the old bosh blues too, so they burn up points ??? never did in old vw's or volvos, even used to run them in british cars, back when I was turning wrenches
then again, we were doing tune ups or resetting gaps and stuff every few months or so, only cause we had nothing better to do in our youth, or gave us an excuse to hang at the shop with wrench lubricant ( beer) and b.s about .........ahhhhhhhhh.........what was the topic again .... :drink :laugh

They never burned my points any more than the BMW coils did. I replaced them at the same mileage before and after the new coils. :dunno

That's what I thought - the blue coils were a replacement. But the guy who would know is Snowbum. Check his site for the answer.

I'd think you could also go to Dyna green coils, I believe they're also 3 ohms. You can find them on ebay pretty cheaply - like $25 a set.

but only IF the condensor is bad / improper / or has failed.

Bosch Blues are the traditional old school upgrade.
Accel, Dyna, Silent Hektic, honda GoldWing, etal. ... lots available, just be sure to match the voltage and correct Ohms rating for your system.
