In its return to theGoodwood Festival of Speed in 2002 (http://www.worldcarfans.com/news.cfm/newsID/2020719.001/country/gcf/bmw/bmw-drive-to-goodwood-for-75th-birthday-celebrations), BMW brought out an R51RS that had been ridden by Hungarian Endre Kozman. BMW released this picture of Kozman, the “Hungarian Champion” at the start of the 1939 Swedish GP as part of its promotional material for the Goodwood event.
http://m1ka.smugmug.com/photos/115537284-M.jpg
Kozman started riding for BMW on a BMW R 5 SS. He used this machine to win the honorary title of the Hungarian Champion in the 1937 Budapest Hungarian GP by placing second to the brilliant ride of first place BMW rider Karl Gall. By the end of the race Gall had lapped all riders, including Kozman who finished second but 2 laps down.

Kozman is pictured above preparing to start a sprint race on a modified R 5. The front end had been extended and the handlebars lowered to allow a tucked-down riding position for the race.
Prior to the Budapest GP Kozman had won the race at Gyon Hungary in record breaking fashion. With the BMW R 5 SS he reached an average qualifying speed of 169 km/h with a flying start. This made him the fastest entrant. He was clocked with a one way speed of 175 km/h.

Moving up to the 500cc R 51 RS Kozman, pictured above in 1939, took the Hungarian title outright in 1940 at Tihany Hungary in 1940.
Post war he made the move to Formula racing where his name appears in the ranks of F-2 drivers. Even then he is referred to as “The Hungarian Champion.”

BMW Sauber F1 Team - Jerez Test - Day three
Test in Jerez.
6th– 8th December 2006
Day three – Friday
Weather conditions:
Heavy rain in the morning, drying in the early afternoon
Air: 14/18°C, track: 14/24°C
Number of cars participating: 17
Fastest lap overall: 1:20.021 min., Rubens Barrichello, Honda
Nick Heidfeld:
Chassis / engine: BMW Sauber F1.06B-04 / BMW P86 V8
Test kilometres today: 474 km (107 laps)
Fastest lap: 1:20.446 min (on lap 92)
Timo Glock:
Chassis / engine: BMW Sauber F1.06B-05 / BMW P86 V8
Test kilometres today: 456 km (103 laps)
Fastest lap: 1:20.789 min (on lap 95)
Programme:
The weather conditions today enabled the team to test all types of tyres. In the morning, both drivers used extreme weather tyres and made some system checks. They then switched to wet weather tyres, making comparisons between new and used ones, and with the track drying up they were finally able to use grooved tyres. While Nick worked on the set-up in the afternoon, Timo, who did only his second day of testing with the team, worked on a damper programme. Both drivers used the new gearbox. They had a trouble-free day and were able to complete more than 100 laps each. The team made significant progress and has learned a lot about the new tyres.
What comes next:
The BMW Sauber F1 Team will be testing again from December 13 to 15 in Jerez
