Even a GS would fear to go here. (http://www.chrisgreaves.com/rusfedhwy/ ) Go ahead GS friends, take a peek.

With all those trees why not add a corduroy surface?

Makes you very thankful for the US highway system. :usa

I'll just bet that there's some GS luver that reads this and thinks, "That's where I'm going next!!!!!"

They're all nuts!!

Hats off to Hans. If I had to travel that road it would only be after a good freeze to firm up the surface and kill of the bugs.

Hey now, I resemble that remark!! :laugh :clap
I met a gentleman from Ireland at the HUBB meeting in Leadville, Co last summer and he showed pictures of another 'highway' that was just opened by Putin. Lauwrence told and showed us that the road was paved for about 25 miles after which it ended in a mudbath too. It was supposed to be a major road along the Trans Siberian railway..... Lauwrence was riding a streetbike and got stuck as he broke his suspension.... What an adventure!
I wish he had a website to post here.

That was Micheal Kneebone the founder of the IBA... the preferred way to do the Trans-Siberian is to got east to West since you have to keep going... check out LOST ON... Steve Crombie ( www.loston.com)

he will be heading over to Vald...in late Feb to ride the roads in the winter... one crazy ozzylander...

I seriously can't believe what these people put up with.

Anyone read Higdon's article in Rider Magazine on his ride across Russia? Unreal.

LOL! that's the russian bathing suit for you.. they're on their way to the beach.

OutbackUFO... ask you well know, rocks are one thing on these pigs, mud is just not in the cards! (at least with street tires....)

Let's see, from the clouds it looks like it was another sunny morning in Colorado in summer then the clouds started building up for an afternoon shower. Even then, those rocks would be a much better bet than the mud.

:p

PS Have you taken you GS over Black Bear?

the deepest i have been in on a GS1150.... is about 8 inches of very slick clay mud on the Oodnaddatta Track... stuff sucked... was doing about 100kph and looked down and thought... that is not dry dirt... it just got deeper and deeper until i had no traction and just slowmo tip over with all the gear on...

then on the Robert Campbell in Yukon went over at night in a rain storm and had pea soup for 75 miles... ...

Silk1100... i know better than doing black bear on a 1150... dont need a few hundred of damage just to do...
it is all in keeping moving forward... :D :stick :D

Yea, It was three then four people that did it. Perhaps the craziest person was the one who rode from England on his GS to meet two of the riders on the East Coast of Russia just so he could ride back with them!
