Item 280052117169 Is a 1971 R75 set up for racing with lots of goodies (trash?); My friend and I are interesting in vintage BMW racing and wonder if this group of bikes and parts would be a good place to begin or is it a pile of junk.

General insight as to a good set up for a vintage track bike also requested.

This Bike closes auction in 15 hours from now 8:06 11/28
Here what’s included:

R 75 Racer (USCRA Open Class Champion 1999) with super high horsepower engine, San Jose BMW racing pistons (11.5:1), shortened barrels, dual plugged and DUAL coils, over sized valves in ported and polished heads (Import Machine Services of Framingham,MA), balanced crank, very rare close ratio BMW 4 speed transmission, rebuilt front brake with Ferodo pads (Vintage Brake), custom racing seat, alloy front fender, new AVON racing tires, 36 mm DelOrto carbs, oil pressure gage, tach, new gas shocks, heavy duty front springs with compressors, machined alloy triple tree, clip ons, and much, much more. This engine should produce above 70 HP. $8000 in this engine alone.

plus a mess of parts and a spare rolling chassis with out motor.

Thanks

No way for any of us to answer this question. Assuming all the pieces are good, might not be a bad buy. I worked for Leo Goff for many years on a car racing team. Leo has built alot of cars and bikes for all forms of racing with alot of success. The owner of the race team bought guite a few cars, that were supposed to be turnkey and ready to go racing. Almost all of them had a myriad of problems we had to correct, which usually led to total rebuilds. We were lucky in that we tested all of our equipment at Memphis Motorsports Park before we went racing and caught most of the problems before the races. That said, if U have an expert in your area who can help U evaluate that equipment and decide it's value. Racing is a expensive hobby. People, who try to do it on the cheap are usually a danger on the track. Good Luck.
