Urp... :eat bring on the left overs.
I'm a work too. It's a fine day to read "out of office" replies.
I got a couple of major gifts out of the way all ready. I'll let my fingers do the clicking for the rest of my shopping. With any luck I won't have to step foot in a mall!

Just had homemade pecan pie with whipped cream for topping.

Dropped the L&T Wife off at the mall at 7:30AM this morning for work. She works there and is going to lock the office door.

There were backups going into all of the shopping "plazas" on the way to the mall. The strangest one, Disney Stores opened at 4AM!!!

Perhaps the pre-load adjusters show have special settings for pre and post holiday meals?

I stayed away from the sweets and the alchohol, but I domolished the sweet potato, golden raisen, orange craisen casserole.

Me, for one. As in, "miserably full."

Having other issues too -- but that goes outside the implied limits of your question. :type

It's a shame the economy is so poor, people working 2-3 jobs and still not a "living wage". I'm suprised any stores bothered to open up at all...............

Anyone as happy as I am that the election is over and the news suddenly got better? From the looks of our shopping malls, retailers should be pretty happy.

I actually exercised some restraint with the turkey, stuffing, mashed patatoes, etc., but I put a whoopin' on the vino. Beagle Brittney got a special treat, as she does every Thanksgiving, a mini-plate with all the trimmins. New son Nate cranked out some ZZZZZZZZs in the basinet long enough for us to finish dinner, and then it was time for another "bot-bot".

We ate at the mess hall on T-day so there are no leftovers. :cry

At the same time it didn't take long to cook and the dishes were done too. :clap

I sure do miss the turkey sandwiches later in the week though. :banghead

I got stuffed pretty good, but could have done worse- it was a church potluck so of course I had to taste everything and you KNOW there was way too much dessert on which to gorge oneself. But I got out of there still feeling some semblance of health, and less groaning than I can ever remember on Thanksgiving.

My Thanksgiving consist of

1) Peanut butter jelly sandwich
2) Apple
3) Nice tall glass of Chocolate Milk (yum)

It was a good Thanksgiving too, I rode around all day with my father.

The mall nearby opened yesterday at 3:00 am. :huh According to the paper and my neighbor's report, there were an estimated 40,000 people clogging the parking lot and roads around the mall. Cars were parked miles away and Circut City had a literal stampede. Of course many were out-of-staters looking for a tax free shopping excursion.

There is nothing that I need that bad to fight those kind of crowds. Is it really worth saving a few extra $$$? My pockets sure don't weigh me down but my time and sanity is worth more than what I'd potentially save. Besides, I like the idea of shopping comfortably on the couch with the laptop and waiting for the mailman to arrive.

I sooooooooooooo agree. I like the UPS truck popping up at my house :thumb.
On-line shopping = no lines at check out, no sales tax and mostly no shipping charges and similar savings. Add to this no battles for parking, dents in your cage (if you gotta use it :cry ) or just dealing with irritated people in general.

I have the family here for the weekend. We did the whole traditional dinner, right down to yams with pineapple and the little marshmallows, which my wife got toasted under the broiler perfectly!. The turkey spent 3 hours on the grill and the white meat was juicy. No mayo will be needed for turkey sandwiches later this week.

For an encore, I had smoked 9 lbs. of spare ribs to just shy of finished a couple weeks ago on the smoker, then wrapped them and froze them. Last night I only had to heat them on the grill for about 30 minutes. They all disappeared.

The pumpkin pies are gone, the apple cobbler nearly so, the rhubarb crunch is also mostly gone and there's only one half of one of the shoofly pies left.

Tonight we're doing hamburgers. Anybody who's still here tomorrow can help pay for my dinner at a restaurant. ;-)

It's not the meal that's the main reason for Thanksgiving. I'd gladly trade all of the turkey dinners in the world to be able to spend a day with my Dad. {S} You have the right idea.

Well, the fam has left the building, so I had a repeat of Thanksgiving dinner... turkey, yams with pineapple and marshmallows, stuffing and gravy, cranberry sauce... and I still couldn't avoid pigging out. Oh well, there's one piece of shoofly pie left...
