:stick I can't wait for more fights over stupid computer games :nra , the hot headed 'pro shoppers' going for cr^p that gets returned the day after X-mas and the massive tie-ups at the mall parking lots. :D
I love on-line shopping. That UPS/Fedex truck looks so cool in the driveway. Best of all is that they bring stuff that is NEEDED not just wanted.... and it keeps me off the road during those 'critical' :violin shopping days.....

The L&T Wife works at the mall as the office manager for the facility management company. "Black Friday" is the only day I take her to work and drop her off. It is scary how bad it gets.

Are many people south of the 49th taking the Friday off as well?

Yea it is a holiday for most people. In fact it is known as "Black Friday" in retail and now common American Parlance (I figure if my mom uses it, it is common). The reason for this is how many people are going to be out shopping, as it is the first day of the official Holiday shopping season. So there are stores that open as early as 4AM, yup 4AM is when the Disney Stores are opening. (I know this cause of the L&T Wife works at the mall.) The rest of the mall will be open by 6AM.
So to say it is a little odd in terms of traffic is putting it very nicely.

I really feel sorry for the store employees who have to get up so early to deal with the public. And what public it is........tsk tsk :hungover

Around here, Meijer's was apparently running sales ... today! And a number of stores are advertising that they will open at midnight! Ugh, good day to stay away from that mess. But they have good sales with some outstanding prices.

Looking for collaboration of an observation - during the period between Thanksgiving and December 25th (also known as Christmas shopping season), people turn into blithering idiots, forget how to drive (if they ever knew), and lose whatever manners they may have had, in search of that elusive "perfect gift."
Or am I just being too sensitive?

No you're just right on. Miami had a deadly crash at 3.30 AM! on I-95, shutting it down for hours. Traffic on the Turnpike, I-595 and I-75 are a nightmare as all roads lead to Malls :hungover .
My dad, bro and me rode to our park hangout and the folks there were over the shopping-hysteria as well. We were taking in scenes of the 'glades instead :heart

Proving conclusively that I am not the brightest tool on the Christmas tree, I went to the mall today to make a return. I steeled myself for the worst, but it wasn't so bad. The clerks that I dealt with were in really good moods.
The traffic and the parking were pretty bad though.

The mall is on the other side of Champaign-Urbana from where I am at the BMW dealer and it's like a ghost town here. Kind of weird. Good riding weather though. And few cars on the street.
Hope everybody got what they wanted to eat yesterday...heh. I was good, how about you?

Today is one of those days on which I'm actually glad to live out in the 'burbs. It was quick & easy getting to the backroads. To Hell with the mall- the weather was PERFECT and I was out tearing up the tarmac out in the country, and for once I even spread the cheer and took someone for a ride! My friend Leslie has a back injury now and hasn't been able to ride for weeks, so I took her as a passenger and she was beaming with gratitude- she not only needed to get out of the house, but also to just reconnect with motorcycling. I think that was a far better gift than anything I could have bought at the mall.
