I'll be in Las Vegas christmas week visiting some relatives and I'll be renting a 1200gs from BMW of Las Vegas for a couple of days.. Can anyone give me some ideas for a couple of day trip destinations, expected weather and any other tips you can think of that might be helpful.

Go up 15 to 93, then 375 Extraterrestial Highway to the Little'A'Le'Inn for a burger. It's about 120 miles. Look for the white mailbox on the left around the 100 mile mark. That's where you'll ride down Road 51 to the main gate (20 miles)
after you eat. You can buy a map for 35 cents at the Inn. Watch for the Bus & other traffic that may come up behind you on the dirt road :doh

Do go see the Hoover Dam

Be prepared to trade your 1150 on a 1200 when the snow melts in New York :deal

Go see Death Valley.
Go to Kingman, AZ. and ride a section of the old Route 66.
Weather should be great. Maybe on the warm side..

Live the experience in the real world. Click on my POA Tour link at the bottom of this post.

Zion, Grafton and the roads north of St. George are fantastic. You can also make the North Rim of the Grand Canyon in a long day from Vegas.

PM me if you need roads and routes, but they are listed in the back of the Ride Report.

Snoone, Enjoy the ride!

Check out Red Rock Canyon. It's about 40 miles outside of town, to the west if I recall. Very scenic and lots of terrain. Not sure about off road opportunities. We did it in a cage a few years ago.

Also, the ride to Hoover Dam is nice, as well as the town of Boulder City on the way. That's where the workers lived during construction.

See you in WI in July! Bob

The north rim of the grand canyon is closed to vehicles from early fall to late spring due to snow.

I'll be in Vegas around the same time (wife's family lives there) and we'll be heading out to Death Valley for a day or two.

Take SR160 west towards Pahrump. About 12 miles before Pahrump, turn left on an unnumbered road towards Tacopa. At Tacopa take Hwy127 to Shoshone. Stop and eat at "The Crow Bar" (very Biker friendly). After eating go to Death Valley. Weather should be great at that time of year. After Death Valley, pick up Hwy374 to Beatty then Hwy95 back to Vegas. Great day ride. Enjoy. Cheers.
