Ok, this is way off topic, but maybe someone here has my answers.

Is it worth downloading?

If I download the IE 7 will I lose my addresses in Outlook Express?

Any other concerns to worry about?

I got lost in the mumble jumble release notes.

Thanks in advance for any input.

Doesn't seem much different, but is supposed to have updated security. Like anything could have less security than IE! It won't overwrite your address files or your favourites.

Office 12 is worth getting (although I've only used Word and Excel in the package.) Vista has taken so long and had so many problems I'm in no rush to get it.

I am using it. Most of my clients, when I have them, are MS only places and use IE and now 7.

The screen layout is a bit different. You are able to manage multiple windows with tabs - I must admit I have not mastered this yet but take advantage regularly by accident.

It finally gives RSS feed capability built in.

It will hang up briefly at the top of some sites. This seems to be less of a problem as days have gone by. I am not certain who to thank, MS or the sites. I think I will thank FireFox for getting MS off the dime.

It is like cooking in another kitchen. All the basics are there someplace but you have to hunt to find them.

It does look more streamlined.

For now I will stick with the older version and let all you brave souls deal with the bugs and patches and bugs and patches ... patches.

What ever happened to DOS 3.1? :gerg

I still like Firefox better. It's more intuitive for me and the IE7 still doesn't have the Bookmarks Toolbar. That's a deal killer for me.

Not worth the upgrade... like every other "first release" from Microsoft it's bug laden. Get Firefox 2.0 Besides... I find it far less likely Mozilla is spying on me than Microsoft...

There is a good comparison of IE7 vs. Firefox at CNET. http://reviews.cnet.com/4520-10442_7-6656808-1.html?tag=nl.e776
I have been using Firefox for some time and am happy with it. I installed Firefox 2 last night and have found it seems even faster than the previous version. My daughter installed IE7 a few days ago and was extremely displeased. She went to Firefox 2 also and trashed IE7. Be aware that some web applications require Internet Explorer to function (such as a database that uses ActiveX). I suggest using Firefox routinely and keeping Internet Explorer handy when something does not work quite right in Firefox, which is rare.

IE 7 is great, no problems at all with download....

Make sure you don't have any programs running when you download and install IE 7.....Turn off your AV all security programs,,thats in the instructions... Very easy to install and very easy to set up...It runs great in the default settings when installed......

Good product,,, give it a try.............Pete

It looks like it won't let me download, my Microsoft operating system on my computer is not genuine. Don't ask, it's a long story.

My computer has been working GREAT with my non-genuine operating system, so I will leave it as it is. :D

Thanks anyway, I may check out the Firefox yet.

Don't like IE 7 but one does not have a choice - eventually. IE 7 will be part of the high priority security updates for either November or December. So, it really doesn't matter what anybody thinks or wants. It's coming.

Personally, I prefer Firefox 2.0 on my Mac. :brow

I've been using the FireFox 2 for about a week, having never used any of their previous products. I like it. A few small odd things to get used to, but overall I think I'm going to keep it. MicroShaft can keep their bugs.

I use Firefox sometimes but not as the default. I find it has a slightly different screen appearance to what I am used to in IE. I also haven't gone to IE 7 yet either and will wait until more folks beta test it.

I'm using it, had it for a bit more than a week, and so far I like it. Never used Firefox, so I can't compare. The tabs are kinda neat to use, makes it easier to switch between pages. Haven't had any problems so far.

I converted to Firefox about 18 mo ago and like it. Upgraded to FF 2.0 AND IE 7 last week. 7 feels a lot like FF to me, but I still prefer FF by a small margin.

No trouble on either download. When I re-imported FF favs to IE 7, 7 reorganized my FF stuff in a strange way, but I suppose there was something I was supposed to do....

I don't download/install anything from Microsoft until they release at least a Service Pack 1 or Service Release 1. They have a habit of letting everyone test their software by releasing it and fixing the bugs later.

As I tell everyone where I work (I am IT support): "If Microsoft didn't make such crappy software, I wouldn't have a job."

+1 on Firefox. Looks like IE7 is trying to imitate it with the tabbed browsing. Too late, Redmond.

+1 on trusting Mozilla not to spy on me or open me to bugs/hacking. I keep MS around for the rare sites that require it.

The auto update for that product CAN be disabled. I don't have the destructions here... but I can post later if anyone wants it...

That's the one thing I don't like... the tabs. I can switch faster between multiple windows using Alt-Tab than I can click on the tabs themselves. No problem though, tabbing can be turned off. I DO like to follow a link by opening it in a tab rather than a window. But using it to process business orders, I like UPS, merchant card, and shopping cart all open in separate windows so I can quick Alt-tab between them and cut/paste data between them, tabbing is much slower in that particular case.
