The manual says to adjust damping by turning to soft or hard setting.
There is about 3 turns on the adjustment screw.
Can you run somewhere in between or should it be all the way soft or firm?
I know it's a dumb question after 30k riding on soft setting but I do have a tendecy to touch on a turn with a dip.

I like to turn mine to the point were the ride feels too hard then back it off slightly. Interestingly, the manual seems to show the adjustments backwards from the way my 2004 RT works.

Anywhere in-between. Go hard then back it off in 1/4 to 1/2 turn increments until the *jarring* bumps stop hitting you in the back. Fine tune from there.
Sporty/fast riding - harder but keeping the tire in contact with the road.
Crusing/Highway - softer for comfort (expect some bottoming and bouncing)

If you're touching down, you might want to make sure you've set static sag for the rear spring correctly first. If you do a little search here or on google, you'll find some articles about setting your sag.
If the shock doesn't damp out chassis movement in one up/down cycle, add more rebound damping until it does. It can be set in between H and S.

The rebound adjuster is NOT going to affect the ride height unless you are going into that corner with the shock 'packed' down. Start with the rebound about 1.5 turns out from fully seated (lightly seated) and see how it acts.
Before you do anything else, make sure your preload and ride height is set correctly.
You 'may' need to check your rebound adjuster too. If you can back the preload adjuster all the way up to soft and still have some resistance on the knob, it's OK, otherwise, you may need to refill the preload reservoir. Read this.....
