:D After reading how to, and seeing the awesome video on changing the belt, I want to do it myself. Is there a trick to removing the cover from a 99'RT? the fasteners come out all right, but the cover will not slide down far enough to remove it and gain access to the belt. The exhaust pipes are in the way, and there is not enough room to negotate twisting , turning or flexing it to get it out of the way. Please, what am I missing?.
I appreciate all of the help and suggestions this forum has given me so far, and hope to some day be able to share the love myself.
Thanks

remove the exaust headers and it's easy. that's why some guys split the cover in half. remember to put anti sieze on the manifold to cylinder head studs when it goes back together. :drink

Good idea also to get some new header gaskets.

"Remove the exaust headers and it's easy". Way too much work.
Remove the Shark Finn portion of the faring on the left side (left as you sit on the bike) and the cover will slide off.

Did you remove the left front fairing bracket at the engine? I have to do that to remove the cover on my 97 RT. Prior to doing that I could fiond no way for itfall out the bottom cleanly.

Ya just gotta remove the "left front "Shark fin n bracket". Slides right down no need to remove exhaust!.

GOT ER' DID! I removed the shark fin and bracket...it took some wiggling and flexing to get the cover out of the way enough to work, but it's done!
I can't say thanks enough to everyone on this forum. You guys/gals simply amaze me with all of the know how. THANK YOU! :)
