Well I did it, I put speed bleeders on the front of my 99 RT and flushed the front curcut in about 15 minutes. Then Went to the back, tried to remove the bleeder and twisted it off. The bleeder looks like it threads into a fitting that screws into the caliper, Speed bleeders sent me a very small bleeder for the rear that looks like it should go into this fitting. What's up? I did not remove the fitting as I did not want to introduce any air in the system. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Thank you for the help.

The rear bleeder is a 6mm and the fronts are 10mm. I don't think that fitting is available as an individual part. It may be available from a caliper manufacturer, but I don't know. If you can get the broken bleeder out of the fitting, that would be the best approach. Keep in mind that if you twist off a speed bleeder, the stainless steel ball in it will prevent you from drilling it out. Then the only recourse is to replace the fitting or get a new caliper.

beemer boneyard should have the fitting (complete with new bleed nipple) for 15 bucks or so. i rode with my bike for a few hundred miles like this. apparently, the 6mm speed bleeders are pretty flimsy.

There is very little material between the depths of the thread and the hollow center.

Give us a pic, is it the same type of fitting like one of the front calper and clutch bleeder have? One front caliper has the dumb fitting for BMW to use at the factory and I took it off and put a speedbleeder in its place so its like the other caliper. If the rear has the same fitting you can take it off but I'm not sure we're talking about the same thing. That little adapter is real soft metal and the threads srew up easy.

The fitting on the rear looks like a 17 mm nut with the 6mm bleeder screwed into it. The fitting actually screws into the caliper then the bleeder into the fitting. It is not like that "thing" on the front. I too removed and replaced that :thumb with a speedbleeder. FWIW Speedbleeders will extract the broken bleeder from the fitting and install a Speedbleeder at no charge forthe labor. WAY COOL!

sweet, you can prob use a 17mm bolt of the same pitch to keep the fluid in the caliper when you send that screw off to speedbleeders for repair.

I received the fitting from Beemer Boneyard in Friday's mail. It had the stock bleed nipple still in place so I was not going to take any chances. I put several drops of penetrating oil around the threads of the bleeder nipple and let it sit overnight. This morning I used a 17mm box wrench on the fitting and an 8mm socket on the nipple with a 1/4" drive as to not use too much leverage and snap off another one. Well low and behold, without much effort at all, the darn thing loostened right up! I was able to remove the nipple with my fingers. I cleaned the fitting real good and dried it with the air compressor, installed the Speed Bleeder and finished the brake bleed in another 5 minutes.
Lesson learned...I would suggest to anyone wanting to install Speed Bleeders or just bleed their brakes to use some penetrating oil on the bleed nipple the night before doing the actual bleeding and save yourself some headaches.
Thanks again to all those who offered help and suggestions,
The extra fitting is going to Speed Bleeders for a broken nipple removal and a speed bleeder install. I will have a spare in case i screw it up again. :clap

Then Went to the back, tried to remove the bleeder and twisted it off.

Very common to break...even mine broke.

On a side note, the speedbleeders work great on the front calipers,(me arms ain't long enough to reach up front and release the bleeder fittin's) plus it's to cumbersome!! :help

But on the rear caliper, you can reach the rear brake caliper fitting and foot lever easily,so pumping the pedal and releasing the fitting is "no problem".

Just be careful when tightening the rear calliper bleed screw. Can breakoff "very easily"....I know from experience... :doh
