When I took my R1100RT-P apart to replace the transmission, I bagged and labeled everything...except this allen bolt and 'keeper'! Where does it go? I don't want to continue the assembly of the bike until I know for sure where this goes. I can't find it pictured in the manual or on the parts list. Anybody recognize it? Thanks for any help. Hal in CT. I tried to upload a picture. If it doesn't work, here's a link to my photo album: http://halkct.myphotoalbum.com/albums.php

It is similar to a retainer clip on my '97 R1100R which is bolted to the right side of the transmission below the throttle body. My clip holds the O2 sensor cable and throttle body vacuum line against the transmission. Ring a bell?

It's me again. In my Clymer's BMW Repair Manual (M503-2, Second printing June 2005) has a pic (#2) in Chapter 5/Engine Lower End. The retaining clip is shown in the extreme right below the throttle body.

That sounds possible. The bolt is the correct size for that location. My manual shows only a bolt going there, without any other keeper....but the bike in my book is stripped way down "for picture clarity". I'll dive back in soon. I'll be needinig my electric vest by the time I get it together I think! Thanks for the tip. Hal.

Yep, its the bolt that connects your tranny to the engine. The keeper is for a cable or hose can't really remember.
