My battery is not carrying enough juice to work my electric shift kit, cruise and Gerbing Gear. It's an 05 with about 24,000 miles. Need input on which one will work best, Odyssey, BMW GEL or OEM? One Leg Rider

I like my Odyssey battery and its about 5yrs old but thats probally not your problem. The battery could have problems and not be accepting a full charge but its more likely that your running more electrics then your alternator can keep up with. You'll have to figure out how many Watts all the gear you run at one time takes and then how many the Alt outputs. Your battery shouldn't be going bad this soon anyway.

I wonder if the Odyssey will work with the 1200?

Is your bike an ABS model? What extra load are you placing on the system (watts)?

The alternator is rated at 700 watts which I would guess is at least 400 watts more than the base electric load. That seems to be more than enough to handle your Gerbings, etc. and keep the battery charged. A couple of ideas: a bad connection at the battery, high parasitic load when the engine is off, or low alternator output?

My hunch is that if you are having problems is that you are using all your spare power on the other electronics. You might want to just put a voltmeter on and see what power you have coming back to the battery when the bike is running.

Call your dealer
There is a service Bulletin on the some 05's for a flat battery.
You may have a free one coming your way !!!!!

I have the same issue but just arent running anything extra until the snow flies. I suspect the battery as well.

If I learn anything from mine Ill post
