What's the optimum air pressure for road riding on a 2001 R1150GS? The tire sidewall reads 42 psi max.
Thanks.

The best solution is to check with MOM
Motorcycle Owner's Manual
Each bike is an individual and much depends on the number of passengers, load and type of trip to be undertaken.
The pressure on the sidewall is the maximum pressure for the tire. Motorcycles have a small footprint and contact with the pavement is critical for a safe ride.
Tires are the first part of TCLOCK
"TCLOCK" as a pre-ride inspection reminder: check
Tires
Controls
Lights and Accessories
Oils and Fluids
Chassis and Chain
Kickstand
Be sure to check and inflate tires when they are cold.
Good Luck

I have been running 34 psi in the rear and 32 psi on the front. That is for Tourance tires.

Different for each bike and tire combo. I have a 1150GS and run 34F and 36R when by myself and 36-38F 38-42R when 2up and loaded.

You may also want to check with the tire manufacturer. I run 42/42 on my RT with no complaints

That's what the Metzler guy recommended for my RT.

Actually, my dealer say do not use the tire pressure in the manual. Maybe that is why they are asking on a forum used for information gathering? Maybe.

That is exactly what I am running. What does the tire manufacture recommend?

Don't know never asked them but the tires seem to be wearing well and I have 7k miles on them.
