Can anyone tell me about Rt. 40 running from Keyser's Ridge, Maryland to Washington, Pennsylvania? I know I can run I-68 west to Morgantown, then head north on I-79. I am considering this alternative, but don't want to loose too much time. Any suggestions?
I haven't ridden it, but it looks like it's 15 miles or so shorter & has some interesting things along the way. Try it and let us know :wave

I run this route often. Take the first Rt 40 exit off I-68 west of Cumberland Maryland. Follow 40 right into beautiful downtown Washington. By all means do not go via Morgantown. It is probably an hour longer.

My inlaws live just over the line from Morgantown in Point Marion, PA. We run this route often to break up the monotony of I-68. I suggest jumping on Route 40 just before Hancock, MD for a fun ride up and over the mountains. You'll miss seeing Sidling Hill on 68 but Route 40 has some beautiful scenery as well as some nice twisties up and down the mountains. It's a fun road from Hancock past La Vale and not alotof traffic.

Planning to ride on route 50 from Germantown, MD to Monroe, Ohio near Cincinnati. Trying to avoid all interstates and taking route 50 west instead. Any suggestions are welcome expecially this time of year..black ice..fog..twisties...road condition...Many thanks

Both 50 and 40 are great routes. I like 40 better...far less traffic and a little better surface too!
