Is there a good manual or how to book for a 2001 R1150GS.

Also, is there an easy way to check my battery. The bike is new to me, the battery seems to be low, symtoms are sluggish starting, but does start.

Also, it appears that I need to remove the fuel tank to replace the battery.

Thanks.

There is a site where you can download the PDF shop manual. Someone will surely have the site address.

Install a YUASA Battery Analyzer (http://www.yuasabatteries.com/accessories.asp). It hooks up to the battery and has a module at the end of it that you can Velcro to the side of the airbox. At the push of a button, you'll know if your battery needs charging. Then all you do is unplug the module and hook up a battery charger or your favorite accessory.

Yes, the battery is under the tail end of the gas tank...why you want the item above.

If you are new to the GS, here are some mods (http://www.bmwmoa.org/forum/showthread.php?p=155943#post155943).

I have a Haynes (3466). It's for the 1100 but the basics are covered.

If your bike doesn't have quick disconnects on the fuel lines. It would be a good time to install them. There is a nut behind the bolt on the right side to pull the tank off.

Good luck.

Came across it...see if your repair manual is listed on the RepairManualClub.com (http://www.repairmanualclub.com) web site.

I have the Haynes, it is better than the factory CD by far in my humble opinion. The Haynes addresses basic approach, the factory CD appears to assume that a technician will already know many of the procedures.
