If 7M miles means what it usually means....
Congratulations on the mileage award and what kind of tires did you have? I need a pair. :doh
However if it means 7,000 miles, I have an 04 R1150Rt that I just took the MeZ6's off and put on a set of Michelin Pilot Roads. So far, (about 2000 miles) I am very pleased. I run loaded up alot (the bike, not me) and the Z6's wore oddly and didn't seem to last. I was looking at Me880's but they were back ordered and so went to the Michelins and am happy. I'll let you know how the mileage plays out down the road...

Yes, it is only 7000, i failed this subject in school. I am trying to find the 880's but it seems that that don't make them in the 1800/55-17 size. Any help.

Last June I put Pirelli Diablo Stradas on my 1150RS. They had a buy one, get one free intro deal. The rear lasted 12,000+ and the front is still pretty good at 13,500. Around 9,000 miles of that were tour miles carrying all the camping gear and stuff. I like 'em.

I only have 1000 miles on them but if they wear anywhere as well as the 880's I have been running, I will be using them from now on. The steering is neutral on these. The bike just goes where it is pointed and no correcting needed in corners for oversteer. I rode them at the Fredricksburg rally last weekend and rode pretty quick on some very wet roads and only had one small slip and that was on a greasey place I saw coming just before a corner on 16 south of Kerrville. Only negative so far is there was no mark on tires to show where to mount relative to the valve stem. This was my first tire change using the Harbor Freight changer and Beemer Balancer and it took a lot of weight to get them balanced. Next time I am gonna balance the rim with no tires first.

I like my Michelin Pilot Roads, as well, am on my second set. Got 11,000 on my first rear, and 16,000 on my first front. I'm at over 7000 now on my second rear, and it looks like it will also make the 11,000 the first one did. Grips well enough for me in the wet or dry (I'm not a track guy, but do like the Texas Hill Country twisties), and are smooth riding. The front does whine a little at about 40MPH, worst on Chip-seal type surfaces, which we have here in Texas. I ride two up much of the time. Hope this helps.

I mostly commute, so I asked the dealer for the tire with a long thread life. They recommended Metzlers Z6 RoadTecs. I have put 15K+ on the rears and 18K+ on the fronts for past 3 sets. (my $0.02 worth)

I have Metz 880 steel belted on my R1150R and they are not working for me. After 5000 miles they were already cupped and uneven wear. Started losing handling at that point also. Have 7500 on them now and they are shot. Rear tire has very little tread and front tread pattern very bad. I had Metz 880 on my Suzuki cruiser and they were great. But they are a disapointment on the Beemer. The bike came with Mich Pilots and they were better then the Metz. The Mich Pilots still had poor wear patter but lasted longer then Metz 880. I plan on trying the Avon next, I have heard on the R1150R they last better and perform great.
Both the Metz and the Mich performed great when they were new, just that the performance faded to soon for me.

I had the Conti Attacks that came with the bike (05 RT). Had some problems with nails etc on the rear but the last one lasted only about 6000 miles and I had cord showing :nono . The front had 10,000 but was cupping. Overall I was pleased with the handling and grip though I had hoped for more longevity (wishful thinking). Just put Pilot Roads on and went to Daytona last week, a 1000+ trip for me. No twisties, just long straight roads. Only thing I noticed is they're hard as a rock. You feel every expansion joint and pebble. I suppose that's the price for high mileage. Haven't tried them in the mountains yet. I'll let you know. I had Avon Vipers on the Road King I had before and loved them. Decent mileage and great grip and handling. I may try them next depending on how the Pilots hold up.

Its Metzlers for me.
My bike is 2004 R1150RT. Bike came with Dunlops, I got 10,000 miles on them and they were really shot. I put Mich Pilot road on and got 11,500 when I changed them. I then put the Metzler ME880 on. I didn't like the handling with them but I had 11,000 miles on them and still had tread but I was in Anchorage Alaska and I wanted new tires for the trip home so I changed them. The dealer there didn't have the 880s so I put on the Metzler Z6s. I liked them very muchand I just replaced them with two more Z6s. I like the way they handle on dry and on wet. I live in Pa and we do have lots of roads that go up, down, and around. I'm going to stick with the Metzler Z6
