Would you be happy if you had to ride a bike like that? Probably not. :laugh

Holy crap, I've been out of the loop too long! Every time I spend more than a week away from the forum something happens to somebody...

Anyway, Dennis, if you read this, I'm pulling for you! Recover well and quickly and I'll see you on the road or in New Glarus or somewhere!

I have been smiling. Ron just caught me in between grins.

I plan on being in New Glarus, and, weather permitting, on my bike. The only thing that will stop me is a snow storm of last year's proportions.

20 more HP, no power assisted brakes, tire pressure monitor and ESA. It's all good. Best of all, it's not laying at the bottom of a ditch.

What is your assessment of this machine as an LD bike?? What mods would/will it need?? (No, I am NOT shopping for a new bike.....)

The problem with the new GT is that everyone has one. Five bikes were at our house last night, and two of them were 2007 K1200GT's. They're common as popcorn. :laugh

I was able to do LD rides on my old GT with no mods other than my Alaskan Leather pad. So far, I don't see that changing. I have issues that require frequent stops, so I've never considered an aux tank. I make every effiort to keep those stops as short as possible. Even if I'm not on the clock, I eat out of the tank bag if I'm on my own. If I'm riding with someone, eating is more of a social event, so stops are extended.

Right now, my riding position is a little conservative. After the wrist heals a little more and my overall condition improves, I'll make it a little more aggressive using the adjustable bars. The pegs seem to be fine for me. I think your legs might be a little longer than mine, so you may disagree, so you should take it for a ride.

What do you mean "some day", I think he's there now. He is over 40 after all.

hey, Dennis, I do not care what they say about you,
you are allright.

When are you going to make a brat run to WI so I can drool over your new k12?

Since I'm a veggie kind of guy, I can't be tempted by those brats up there, but talk to me about ice cream or other desserts.

Not this year. Pumpkin, pumpkin and cream cheese, blueberry, blueberry and peach, regular apple, apple crumb, lemon meringue, cherry, and a sugar-free apple. I made the crumb topping, and "accidentally" doubled the amount of sugar required by the recipe. :D

OK. I'll have a piece of the blueberry and peach (kind of tempers the strong blueberry flavor...good choice) and an apple crumb.
Two scoops of vanilla ice cream on each.
OK. Maybe a cherry with a couple of scoops.
And a pumpkin. But just a smidge of the pumpkin and cream cheese to honor the cook.
Why not try the sugar free apple...just to see...

If you didn't live a thousand miles away I'd get busy in the ktichen and invite you over for some...of course if you pack the tankbag and give me a heads-up there's always tomorrow! :D

There was an active couple in the Chicago Region club who used to host a Burger and Pie event every October, and we always enjoyed it. When those folks decided not to host it any longer, my wife decided that she would like to keep it going, since she likes to bake pies and inviting a bunch of people over gets us motivated to clean house. :D

The funny thing about last night's edition is that everyone attending traveled at least 25 miles one way, and guys like Dennis and RonB probably rode 140 miles round trip. The temps were well into freezing when the party ended at 9:30pm.

The blueberry and peach combo was terrific, and surprised everyone who tried it. Its definitely not a standard combination. :D

Wow! Those are homemade?!? That's impressive!!

I just got back from the store. They were out of the little individual apple pies that they make (for us single, childless folks :)) so I had to settle for a slice of pecan-chocolate.

The first year we did this, she made eight pies in 1.5 days. Now she only does 6. :D

Maybe Sue R-M still has some German chocolate cake kicking around for ya. That was some tasty stuff on a cold Saturday night!

I sampled at least 3 of the pies. They were wonderful: apple crisp, pumpkin and blueberry. I did manage to stay away from the ice cream.

The ride home was a real Rounder event. The temperature read out on the GT got down to 29F at one point.
