I have a 2006 R1200RT with a dealer installed BMW radio/cd player - which worked just fine. I decided to install a Baehr Ultima XL intercom, so got one with all the cables. The radio cable (RAA-02-01) has connectors which plug into the existing radio connector block, after triple checking, I plugged them in and checked the radio operation.

Nuts! The display now showed "No Radio". Baehr said to use a screwdriver and remove their connectors and try it again. However; I am unable to extract the connectors from the radio connector block.

Any ideas on the "No Radio" display or on how to remove those connectors?

Thanks...Rich

Those connectors are a "use once, screwed forever" connector. You will have to damage them to remove them and start over. When I installed the same setup on my '05 RT I had to use a magnifying glass to see the socket numbers and coordinate the wire colors to the correct socket.

Did Baehr tell you about using the fader on the radio speaker controls to shift the sound to the radio's rear speakers, (not installed on the RT but included in the controls)??

I'm not sure why you are getting the "no radio" display, maybe someone else can help. I sounds like the cables you attached to the radio plug somehow cancelled out the radio inputs to the display.......

I haven't seen this connector yet, but if it can be disassembled, it often takes a pretty good tool. Some of the round pin ones take a round sleeve with a push rod in the middle of them. Still, before you push, you have to remove a plastic cover on the back of the connector that the wires go thru. This cover with the holes in it is situated so that it's holes are part way over the holes in the connector block. The purpose of it is to block the pins from being pushed out in error...if the barb on the pin doesn't hold for some reason. It can foil your attempts to remove pins if you don't catch on to it's purpose.

Thanks Eureka and cjack for the replies...

Boy, "use once, screwed forever" really describes it. I tried sliding a tube in from the front to compress the barbs, but like u said, something seemed to be holding it from the rear.

Since there was a light visible in the CD opening, I thought it wasn't a power problem. However; I apparently dislodged a fuse just under the connector block. After reseating it, everything was fine - except for reconnecting a wire that I broke off during the pin removal attempt.

Yes, Baehr told me about using the fader control. Everything seems to be working fine now.

Thanks again...Rich
