See below for part 1. I didn't get them submitted properly.
I awoke Sat to this.

which helped the :hungover.
And this

which didn't. :D This helped though.

I unfortunately couldn't stay Saturday, which meant having to miss the Sat nite crab feast. Maybe next year.

I packed up

and hit the road. St Mary's City is just up the road and there are usually sailboats anchored in the river.

There are a lot of nice two lane roads in St Mary's county. I especially liked 244 from Valley Lee to Beauvue and 236 north from Budd's Creek. There's not a lot of color in the trees yet, but the fields have the fall color.

I took interstates to get north of Baltimore to get to some of my favorite roads.

After lunch

I took Rt 25 (Falls Rd) north into PA.

I used to live in Baltimore and this was one of my favorite roads. I bet I spent more time on this road than any other and it's been probably 15 yrs since I've ridden it. It's still a great road. There are a few more houses and traffic lights but I had a lot of the road to myself.

I took PA 851 and 372, which is a very nice road through Lancaster county and arrived home before dark.

According to my navigation system

it was a 524 mile weekend.

524 miles to share a meal with friends?? Definitely!!

Part 1 didn't seem to submit. Let me try this again.

Every fall I get together with friends in Southern MD just because. And yes, I've done this trip before (http://www.bmwmoa.org/forum/showthread.php?t=6676).

I was loaded and ready to go Fri mid morning. The early morning chill had warmed, but I still started wearing my winter riding gloves.

The quickest way to get from the Philly area to where I was going is to take I-95. I wasn't in any hurry so I avoided I-95. I meandered through SE PA,
http://terham.smugmug.com/photos/102490046-M.jpg
passed through Newark, DE and went down the Eastern Shore of MD. My plan was to cross on the Chesapeake Bay Bridge (http://static.flickr.com/21/31958955_5bfe68bd25.jpg?v=0). Route 301, which leads to the bridge, is a four lane road but is lightly travelled, at least until it joins with Rt 50. Before I crossed though I had some business to take care of.

I stopped here

for one of these.

Mmmm, Holly burgers.

It didn't last long though.

Fueled up, I crossed the bridge and turned south. I'm getting closer...
http://terham.smugmug.com/photos/102489874-M.jpg
and closer...
http://terham.smugmug.com/photos/102489831-M.jpg
I made it.

There were still some good tent spots left, so I took this one.

I enjoyed watching the sunset over the water.

After sunset, it was time for this

and this

which led to :hungover .
