So this weekend I rode down to the Catskills. Its a small event of people just camping out for the weekend on the hosts land and going for day rides and having a big cookout Saturday night.
Friday I took off around 10am and heading toward Manchester VT.
Here is a view along the Battekill River on Rt 313 in NY

I wonder if I should stop by Max's BMW and get a new tires first? Nah it will be fine.

I continued through Manchester and took Rt 30 south past some of the ski areas. Here is Rt 30 with Stratton Mtn in the background

After cruising south on 100 past all the ski areas to Wilimngton I decided to head towards Mnt Greylock in North Adams MA. I have never gone up that. Its the highest peak in MA I believe.
On VT Rt 8

Crossing the VT-MA border. Thats my ghetto HelenTwoWheels duffel made out of a WWII duffel bag with dog lease loops sewn on. It works.

There is a monument on the top for veterans of MA. I was starting to get hungry by this point as it was now after 1 pm.

There is also a lodge up with with a fireplace and a place for people to take a break and rest

I was the first to arrive to I got the pick of the camping spots

The hosts cooked some chili and rice with bread for dinner. Lots of beer to go around. There was also a fire going.
Cool garage with a nice collection. Left to right a V-Strom, a Guzzi, BMW R1100R, an R100, a Suzuki SV650, and last but certainly not least a very cool BMW LS.

A forget the model of this bike but it came with an LS front end, and a GS rear section from BMW so a lot of GS accessories fit. Hence the hard panniers.

Brrrr it was cold Friday night. It went into the 30s. Ice on the bike.

Everyone decided to meet up at a diner down the road. My buddy and I needed to get gas. I was driving down the dirt road and the bike felt very twitchy. I got to pull out onto the road and the bike slid all over.
Doh! I know I should have stopped by Max's. Time to get out the tire repair kit
http://www.spmicro.com/albums/album41/P1030533.sized.jpg
Turns out I picked up a nail. I think it was going down on Friday actually I remember the handling getting squirrely a couple time
http://www.spmicro.com/albums/album41/P1030535.sized.jpg
Preparing the hole for the tire plug. After that was taken care of I gave Max's a shout to see if they could do a rear tire for me in the afternoon. It was already noon and I was a good 1.5 hours away. They said no problem!! I ended up getting front and rear done while there. I went with Metzler Z6. I need to get more than 4.5K out of a rear.

The rest of the night people ate, sat around the fire, the host busted out his guitar and played for everyone. It was a good time with lots of beer, wine, and food. It got very cold again that night. You could hear the coyotes in the woods chasing something that night.

After breakfast I packed all my stuff up and heading up Rt 66 toward home. I made a couple stops along the way.

I finally made it home safe and sound after a very eventful weekend. A nice relaxing mileage over 3 days. I couldn't have asked for better weather. Over 1000 miles in the last week, thats a lot for me.

silk1100 - Are you kidding me. It could have been twice as long as far as I am concerned.
Thanks. I always think I am a boring story teller. This is probably my best one. I think I am getting a little better at it.
