A week ago I made the jump from an '85 airhead to an '06 GS. I have never had ABS brakes before. While coming home from my first camping trip with the new bike it began to rain. I was a little nervous with new tires and a new bike. I did not know how it would handle the rain. While coming down a hill in North Carolina the little old lady driving a Buick in front of me hit her brakes to turn left into a tourist trap. I jumped on the brakes and came to a safe stop inches from her rear bumper. I am sure on my old airhead I would have locked up the wheels and gone down hard. Thank God for technology!
Now, if I can just get that crease out of my seat!

Hey, no stains - no problem - just leave it out in the sun for a few hours. :drink :thumb

Hey, I ride a 2000 1100RT and just spent big $$$$$ having the ABS unit replaced out of warrenty. You don't need it till you need it.

Glad you are ok. As appealing as those old airheads are, I will almost always have to go for the newer stuff with ABS.

I like having as many good players on my team as possible. Congrats on your new ride as well.

Had similar experience with a deer. Although on a dry road I could still feel the ABS working. On a wet road even more important. I think the biggest advantage to braking in any condition is with ABS you don't have to try to get maximum braking withough going down. Just grab the brake and let the ABS do the work. Sure beats underbreaking.
