MAYDAY.... MAYDAY.... broke down in Salt Lake City

My F650 GS and I have been on a cross-country bike trip for the last six weeks. My baby finally lost the battle and the rear sprocket and chain are toast.

I am in Salt Lake City and need a ride to the Sparks BMW shop to get the repairs done. (they don't have the parts in Salt Lake)...

Is there anyone that can give me a ride to Sparks, NV on Monday?????

Plan B would be get a ride down to Orem and have my son put a sprocket/chain on for you. Would entail getting someone to overnight a sprocket/chain to him.

I'd post on www.f650.com and see if someone has a set in the garage or see if you can one of Steve's special offers. He's got chains and spogs, but you have to be a member to get the deal.

I hope you got help and everything is O.K. now.

But I have to ask. How do you not notice how bad your chain and sprocket are and ride it until failure. There are emergency breakdowns and then there are failures from purely not maintaining your bike. Not trying to slam. But the old saying does fit.

An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.
