Heading up to Montreal Thursday for a little getaway this w/e!
And Some Great food of course.
Just seeing if anyone could recommend a good inexpensive motel. Nothing fancy but no dump either! Willing to stay on the outskirts of town.
Also if you have a favorite Restaurant would like to hear of it!
Let me know if there is any must do things?
Thanks

When I saw the post "Canadian Help" I thought you wanted help in impersonating a Canadian, just add "Eh" at the end of each sentence.
However, if you are in downtown Montreal, you have to go to Ben's restaurant, 990 Boulevard de Maisonneuve Ouest, for one of their famous Montreal smoked meat sandwiches. It's a must do in Montreal.
Regards, Rod.

Bring a bike with long travel suspension for the roads and potholes. :laugh
If you like window shopping, walk the length of St. Catherine Street in the downtown area, say between Atwater and St. Laurent.
Chinatown is just a block up from the Palais de Congres. SE part of downtown.
Moto Internationale (BMW dealer) is on St. Jacques just west of Cavendish...probably 5+ miles west of downtown.

Can't reccomend where, but I can a what: Poutine! (Fries with gravy and cheese curds!) The Quebecer's make it the best.
When we travel through Canada (my wife is from New Brunswick), we always blow by Montreal and Toronto and stop in smaller places like Cornwall or Kingston.
I could reccomend the Big Foot Truck Stop, but that is around km200 on the 20, a bit of a ride out of town. We like to stop there and either rest from the Montreal Driving Experience or to gas up and have a break before going through Montreal.

..."visit St-Viateur Bagel located at 263 St. Viateur in order to stock up on bagels"
THE very best in the known world! It's a tiny place so don't give up. And, while in the neighborhood, take a walk around and enjoy. -Bob

Schwartz's Montreal Smoked Meat (http://www.schwartzsdeli.com/index2.html)...said to be the best.
They have an on-line map you can print out.
