heck was that? I was leaving the post office parking lot the other day (1991 K100RS) going very slow on dry pavement... depressed the rear break lever and my tyre 'pulsed' as if I were slammin it on sand. Really caught me off guard... has not happened again, but thought one of you might know wa-happened. thanks!

My '92 K75RT had the ABS system fail and it did exactly what you described--push down on the pedal and nothing at first then severe pulse and push back on the pedal along with lock up of the wheel.

Eventually it went to the failure code for rear modulator and after that the code for bad ABS control unit. Very dangerous in my opinion and it would be absolutely tragic or fatal if it failed that way on the front brakes. Check your ABS codes--see if there's anything indicated there. I also found that the rear modulator would heat up to the touch after only about 5 minutes of running the bike--you can check for that real quickly.

If you have an ABS system failure code, unplug the control unit and the brakes will work fine with no concerns about it failing. Of course you won't have the ABS functionality, so adjust your riding style appropriately.

Good luck.
