Sold the '04 RT, which I liked and jumped in with both feet and bought an '07 GS- Adventure. I love it! put on my 600 miles in 36 hours and only find the seat a bit on the hard side. Other wise, I really believe that this is the finest machine I've ever had the pleasure to ride. Now, I know it's the blush of newness talking but, I just want to keep riding it and I've not felt like that since I was a young-un with my R100S. :heart
My wife on the other hand says that the pillion is a nightmare and will stick to her own R75 thank you very much. :D

Congrats, just go ahead and drop it on each side in the driveway. It'll take the shock out of it later :nyah

And here I thought or was led to believe our economy is tanking, where was it I got that impression, oh 24-hour news. Hehehe

So how many times have you "Stole it" yet... :dance Don't want this one drinking oil 20,000 miles from now! :doh

Very nice, very nice indeed...

SFDOC,
I did take it out into some pucker brush and let it fall over (cringe) to see how difficult it would be to pick it up. Woof! I'm gettin' too old for that. :nyah

It didn't seem to mind as much as I did anyways.

I figured that since I'd spend 20+K on a car and this in my primary transportation, What the hey? Beats my car all to heck. You know that the front end comes up just fine even when kept under 4 grand! My wide is still laughing that I must rock it to get it off the centerstand. A bit tall. Who cares!! :usa

Remember my mentioning my son? He's having a blast as a platoon leader in C Co, 1/504th PIR 82nd ABN. Unfortunately, he's going the sports car route instead of two wheels. A Porsche Boxster of all things. Teach em everything ya know and they eat the pencils, right? :D

I stopped rocking mine off the center stand while on my long trip. Now after filling up or when ever, I climb on (make sure the side stand is up) put it in gear, lean back a little and go. Seems to drive off the center stand no problemo... (Course this is an 1150, but can't see why it would matter)

Have fun with that new bike :D

Hey Bullfrog congrats on your new Adventure, great choice! As for getting it off the stand I put the side stand down just in case, and from the side I take it downand lean it immediately on the side. Never tried driving it off the stand, must do that to try it.

Well, I just went out and tried the drive off of the centerstand. Interesting. A bit un-nerveing but I think I can get used to it. I'm really surprised at how easy it is to put on the center stand, even with a minor load.
Just stand on the standy-on part and give it a bit of a tug UP and Voila! :dance

My Harley friends still look at me like I'm nuts doing stuff like this. Riding off the stand and all. :p

That is my standard departure. I always ride it off the stand. Otherwise that whole monkey *#&$&$ a football comes to mind while trying to rock it off.

hey bullfrog congrats on the new bike. I have an 04 1150RT too. I am new to BMW so I may sound stupid but I have to ask, what is an 07 GS? I mean is it a K bike or an R bike.

Glad you like it. have lots of fun. Oh yeah, I too ride off the center stand.

You don't sound stupid--more like curious. Welcome to the forum, BTW, and sorry about all the trouble up in Lancaster. Really a bummer.

Anyway, what we're talking about here is one of these beauties:

This is the serious, "I'm going to ride around the world" bike. It's an R bike like yours is, though it sports the next generation engine, with more horsepower, torque, lower maintainance, and a smoother transmission, just to name a few of the innovations. I've yet to sit on one but I'm led to understand that it's a tall bugger.
