My first, long ride on the '04 R1150R and this time I brought my camera. :D
Highlights were the Sunlight Basin and Beartooth Highway from Cody, Wyoming into Red Lodge, Montana, the Going to the Sun Road in Glacier Park, Montana and, of course, the Canadian Rockies.
Here's a teaser and the rest are on my smugmug page at Trip to the Canadian Rockies (http://f-rider.smugmug.com/gallery/1848481/1/93546350)

Looks like you had a great ride. Great photos.
It has been ~15 years since I went through this area but these pictures brought back good memories.
Make sure you remember to take your camera on your next ride so that you can share more of your adventures.

Geez, makes me think I should be more appreciative of what's in my backyard. Most of that is an easy day trip from here :clap Its so familiar to me that I don't really appreciate how spectacular it is. Good photos.

Holy Moly ! Those are spectacular places and thanks to you I'm going to include many of them on next summer's vacation. Beartooth Pass is one I keep missing out on especially since it was closed last year due to the mud slides.
Peter Loughheed National Park looks fantastic. Thanks for sharing your great photos.

Thanks for the comments ! I bought the RR in April '06 and wanted to outfit it so I could take my DSLR and take photos for a ride report, rather than just an occasional picture of a great scene. I've been inspired by the many great ride reports on the various forums, Horizons Unlimited and, of course, in print in the ON and other magazines. This trip was perfect for that, since it is hard to match the scenic beauty of Northern Montana and the Canadian Rockies. But I changed some planning just so I could ride the famous Beartooth Highway and go through the Sunlight Basin NW of Cody, Wyoming. What a road ! Definitely on my top 10 list of great motorcycle roads :nod
Got so tied up in the PM with you I forgot to welcome you to the forum.

For those of you who are planning trips to the Rockies and want to include a transit through Kananaskis Highway 40, keep in mind that it is closed during the winter from the Peter Lougheed Park gate, south to Highwood House, until about the middle of June. You can however, ride in from the Trans Canada Highway from the north, to as far south as Upper and Lower Kananaskis Lakes. As is apparent from Munchy's pictures, it's a ride worth doing. Closure dates can be obtained from the Kananskis Country office in Canmore, Alberta. There's also excellent hiking up and down the valley, and the Spray valley to the west, which is accessible via the excellent (for the most part) gravel Smith Dorien Highway.
