I just bought a 92 K75RT and the kick stand seemed to almost at 90* to the bike when fully deployed. I felt as if the slightest bump from behind would push it off the stand. I don't remember the side stands on my 92K100RS and my wifes K75SA that we had in the past as being that way. Anyone else feel that way? Today I took a die grinder with a cut off wheel in it and cut the stop on the frame back about 3/8". The stand locates further foreward and looks a lot more stable now. The kick stand also has a square alumnium pad about 1/2" thick bolted to it's base that seems to sit the bike more upright than it should be. I'll probably remove it too. I saw a friend park his Rt on a slight incline and have it roll foreward, off the stand and fall over. I don't want that to happen to me.

Was the bike parked in gear when it fell over?

I would suspect that it was in neutral but I don't know. Iv'e always left mine in 1st but this bikes side stand just seemed different that my others.

The sidestand on K-bikes are close to 90* when extended though should extended a little forward of 90* so it doesn't flip up if the bike is pushed - I've never personally had that happen. Their side stands are also known for excessive lean due to the side stand actually bending, which is probably why there is a 1/2" pad attached to the sidestand base. A torch could be used to soften the sidestand enough to straighten it out a bit so the bike doesn't lean as much, but it will always lean more than R bikes do. I did this on my '86 K100RT and it worked pretty well, I don't remember it bending again but I only had it for a year after that.

my '94 k75 leaned A LOT until i had the shocks shortened to lower the seat. now, on its kickstand, it's almost vertical. i went from a scary lean to a scary no lean. i was told they all lean a lot from the factory. so, maybe your shocks were shortened (bike lowered), hence the 90 degree angle. i'm having my kickstand cut down to get some (but not all!) of the lean back.

After riding the GS the K bike will surprise me with how far it leans but I have never had trouble with the bike falling over unless it was pilot error on my part.
