Anyone know how to fix the annoying exhaust heat shield rattle I get (on both LT's I've ridden) at about 1200-1300 rpm? Don't say, "don't rev at 1200-1300 rpm" please... :nono

I removed my shield and put several gobs of silicon rubber on the underside, being careful they did not show. They were tall enough that tightening the mounting screws compressed them.
This, of course, was on a K75, but might be an idea for yours.

The only way to completely get rid of the rattle is to take the shield off and throw it away. Then grind off the tabs. That worked for both of the K100's that I had. Then you can use any RPM you want without listening to the rattle.
You then can use some stainless steel polish to get the pipe to look descent. The part of the pipe that used to be covered by the shield will be extremely dirty.

On my K75, and my neighbors K100, I threw away the BMW screws and little washer thingies, and bought some button head allen screws[bolts?] frm McMaster-Carr, and bolted them dn. tight. Installed w/some loctight. So far they have not self destructed from vibration with maybe 10,000 miles. It's an irritating noise isn't it! rj

I was out riding early one morning and had the same problem with my k100 until I took the aluminum foil from my egg sammy and fit it neatly between the shield and the pipe. That's it until I replace the bolts...
