So, work has begun on the December issue of the Owners News. We've got lots of great features for you to enjoy over the holiday season. One thought has crossed my mind several times, and I thought I would pose the question:
What do BMW riders/enthusiasts want for Christmas?
Feel free to talk it out in this thread, but I'm really looking for people to e-mail me with a brief (fewer than 200 words) description of what they're hoping to find on Christmas morning this year (bike related items only, please).
Are you really hoping for a specific tank bag, GPS or something else?
If you have an interesting idea, send me an e-mail with your description, why you want the item and a link to the item online.
mandy@bmwmoa.org
You might just see your wish list in the December ON! :clap

A windshield for my Rockster.
I have already sent Santa my letter. :) I thought my 'Driving Award' this year was going to put me on the 'bad' list. But Santa was ok with that.

Maybe a new tank bag (I was elated to learn that the old one that came with the bike is still made and very attractively priced!), maybe a new GS (Hey I can dream...), maybe a big stack of cash so I could afford to go on some cool rides.

Better: my wife in skimpy lingerie on a new GT. Come on, you have to have something to open!!!
Seriously though, the only thing I really want is for the weather to be warm enough on a couple of days to allow me to ride year round. Here in WI though, I've got a better chance of the new GT. :doh

How about a day on the forum where nobody is complaining about something in the ON? Too outlandish? :stick

How fortuitous! That exact item will be in the Aerostitch 2007 catalogue!:laugh
Status update: I've gotten one real response so far. Anybody else want to put their $0.02 for the ON?

jeez, youre rushing us!
what's the deadline for us to email you? i'm working, and not day dreaming about motorcycle stuff right now, and will be for the next couple days.
but i definitely want some stuff for the bike! i also thought of an interesting way to present it in the mag that i'd like to share with you, but i have to find time to sketch it up.

Haha...sorry! I'm not trying to rush you. I'm just excited to hear from you!
The deadline will be October 10. Take a breath, work and daydream when you can!
Thanks everyone! :wave
Dear Santa's elfet,
I want a video rig for the bike
Helmet cam and a yet to be determined video camera.
Software to edit with
A magic broomstick for the above(I am told its magic so I can't afford it but you and Santa are sorta magical so maybe you could get me one.)
I want this cool duel headlight setup for my Roadster that I found on the internet and then lost the url, but (see above about magic)
I want some of the tools on the special BMW tools list I am working on. There have been a lot of oilhead final drive failures reported on the forum so I guess anything listed on page 541 of the Clymer BMW (oilhead) 1993-2004 manual I have. But any BMW oilhead specialty tools that I don't have will do. (Santa knows what I have.)
I want a new job so I can buy Christmas presents.
ps: If the girl in gadwal's request has a tall, inteligent, long legged older sister...lets talk :thumb

Ok, folks. I've only gotten two actual responses that I can use. :banghead
Please send me a 100 or so word description of what you want for Christmas and I'll include it in the December issue. If you can include pictures or links, it would be very helpful!
Thanks and Happy Biketober!
e-mail me at mandy@bmwmoa.org if you have any ideas!

With the replacement cost of the hard bags for the 1200 CL my husband just bought me, I'm hoping Santa brings me some chrome to protect it (and the engine). I was hoping for heated grips and/or seat for my 750 Shadow, but since the CL already has those... :newtoy

(shhh - da wife just posted so hopefully she won't see this for a bit)
What I want for Christmas.
Snow - WAIT! I'm in the Great White North (aka Canada) and snow is a fact of life. In fact, we had snow this past weekend, though not as much as Buffalo. For me, there are two seasons, riding and gliding. Thankfully with a Beemer, there isn't much in between these two seasons.
What else... Someone to crack the CANBUS properly so us R12RT folks are free to freak out our bikes with FREDs. (if you have to ask, you're to young) I've made a few changes to the RT, but I would love to have freedom to plug whatever I want in to the system.
To continue - A working bike to bike system. Now that the wife has a 1200CL she can keep up, but it's got a much smaller fuel tank, much like her bladder (I'm gonna pay for that one :) ) and it would be nice to find out she has to stop other than noticing her missing from my mirrors - then I have to find out where I lost her.
Another iPod. I have an older iPod with a hard drive in it and it doesn't like the vibration on the bike. The newer ones are solid state and don't suffer from the hard drive getting "upset" with the vibration. (the wife is going 'what, not another one!')
Driving Lights - again on the CANBUS issue - that can connect easily to the R12RT. I would love to have Motolights on the calipers so there are directional lights, but I'm still working on this so they work seemlessly with the system.
Not really a Christmas thing, but I hope my son passes his M2 test (ye olde basic motorcycle license in Ontario) next spring so he can ride like the rest of us. I have my eye on a K75 for him.
Anything else and I think I'm just being greedy - well, 'cept for maybe a 2WD Ural for winter riding, or a 650 GS for the dirt roads, or ... Stop it, your getting silly...
