Wow, you're changing your oil every few weeks? :german
If you are that remote, I'd suggest mail order. There are many larger dealers who do mail order. I order a half dozen at a time, the same filter fits a very wide range of K bikes.
Max (http://www.maxbmwmotorcycles.com/) and Bob's (http://www.bobsbmw.com/) come to mind.

I think you missed the point. Would be much easier to ride to Autozone and pick up a filter than have to order a gross !

Maybe, but they deliver and you could ride someplace else.
Anyway I would start my search at ibmwr.org (http://www.ibmwr.org/otech/partsubs.html) and their substitute parts site.

Hi, 86378,
I agree; I would rather use the BMW filter. That said, the Fram which, Fram says, is for the BMW K- and R- (oilhead) bikes is Fram number 9063. It has a couple of letters before it, but I forget what they are. I haven't seen them at AutoZone, but I have seen them at Checker. Were I changing oil as often as you, I would buy a dozen or so from Eurotech (the Mahle OX-91) or from the mail-order dealer who gives you the best price. Before Deming Cycle gave up the franchise, I bought a pack of 10 to go with the remains of my previous pack of 10.

If you use a Fram filter do NOT get one with the Black EZ-Grip coating. It will flake off in the oil and this is not good.
I believe the Fram number is listed in the IBWR.org section mentioned by MK1A.
Another option is Bosch filters from www.beemerboneyard.com. They also carry the filter cover O-ring and crush washers for the Drain plug.

Of the two, most filter studies show Wix to be better. Wix makes NAPA filters, with FIL1348 being their filter for the BMW. I use the Purolator Pure 1 PL10241. Pep Boys had the best price last time I shopped. Mobil 1 filters are very good, too. Google Oil Filter Test.
