Yesterday I shipped the kids off to school, gassed up the boxer (I have Fridays off now) and decided to take a long ride. My original intent was to take superslab to Lacrosse. Wisconsin to save time, then follow the most excellent, twisty HWY 33 back through the Wildcat Mountain area.
I did indeed follow this plan at first but kept getting diverted onto side roads by Amish saw mills, old cheese factories, etc.
Finally I just trashed the idea of staying on HWY33 and decided it'd be much more fun just to set my Magellan GPS to "HOME" so I knew which general direction to go then "get lost" taking side roads with no numbers or letters so I could both explore and enjoy the twisties.
A Catholic cemetary and church on 33. This church in on top of a ridge and can be seen for several miles.

A look east on 33. Eventually it will descend down and wind between the bluffs in the distance.

These pictures are in Amish country where I first started to really get lured off "the beaten path."
I just thought this little Lutheran church was too cute not to share.

Laundry day in Meadow Valley apparently.......

HWY 33 looking south on the Kickapoo Valley. This was supposed to be all flooded by a huge dam and resovoir. The dam was started but never completed when the Feds called off the project. If anyone listens to WGN Radio in Chicago this is the area Orion Samuelson is from.

What the heck is a is a plantation style mansion doing in Wisconsin? I can only assume it was originally built for some lumber baron back in the day.

These two are just a few miles from my home in Adams County.
This is a picture of the biker bar in White Creek, which consists of two bars, and about 10 houses.

And this ancient, still functioning hydro-electric generator provides White Creek's electricity.
