weeks ago, a bonehead in a parking lot knocked over my scooter, and the windsheld was shattered
old brittle, luftmeister, must have hit it just right
no names, no body around, just me scooter and a bucnh of pieces of acrylic, still in the frame, center stand still deployed, but laying down, like waiting for a oil pan gasket or something..... a puppy wanting its tummy scritched
I think what saved more damage was the sidebags, the windsheild, adn a few minor scrapes to the chrome beading around the luffy, otherwise I lucked out.
thanks bud or chick, I owe you one.... :(
so
after going on line, e-bay , the typical air head recycle folks ( all good folks)
I cried for hours, wah wah wah, and made one out of plexiglass, that flexed at speeds over 60, and buffeted me with wind, like a sailor wants to hit, but not an old scooter rider, and definetly not my wife, on the back wiht her shoei, saying, hey, where did this wind come from ?????? and thats ok if you wnat it or expect it. ( wind or complaining)
so of course I checked here, at this forum
at this forum, I was told that clearshields makes the luftmeister replacements
and I checked, and they do
ordered it, and it is perfect

but for all of you BMW floks, they make windsheilds for all stock BMW's and just about every aftermarket one too, they make custom ones too, custom heights, to your specs, custom bends, probabally even custom colors
add 3 feet for a circus tent windsheild, they will do it
and out of DOT approved stuff

I got one, with a slight gray tint, and it looks so good with the luftmeister, better then the stock clear

Im not trying to sell the shields, no connections , no money for me, no discounts, nadda, nutin, wont get an e-mail saying thanks
I wont even list their web site, as I dont want any one to think Im selling
but the name is clearshields, look em up yo sef
and talk to John
just letting others know, that thanks to this forum I found out about these guys, and now I have a real shield for my luffy and me ol' airhead
and if you need a sheild
check these guys out
( by the way, the windsheild, with well packed shipping was just a pinch over a hundred)
better then buying a used one for 70 plus shipping on e-bay

I broke my r100/7 windshield with my throat.. Yeah , don't ask.... There was other damage also that has been fixed. The one that was on there was made for me by a friend 15 years ago or so... I lost the broken off part and do not know how tall it was... Can you tell me how tall you are and how tall the shield is.. I am 6'2" and remember the original hight was a little to short for me... I have a Clearview on my R1200C and think it does a great job.... Thanks.... Carl

for me , my shield may not be the answer you want
mine is 22.5 inches from the center hole
but at clearview, there is a section on how to size a windshield, other then stock, they give you the stock #'s and also tell you how to custom order other then stock size, like eye contact with the road, passanges, and stuff
good luck

I googled for Clearshields and didn't find a website for them. Could you spill the beans (so to speak) as to their website? I'd appreciate it. Thanks.
