View Full Version : '77 R100s
I have an opportunity to buy a '77 R100S. I'd appreciate hearing of any particular things to ask about/check with respect to this year/model that anyone would care to share. Also, any thoughts on its suitability for attaching a sidecar.

Hello; I have one of those; check the electrics, diode packs are $177 here. A new battery is around $125. Make sure it shifts properly, transmission repairs are very expensive. Then there are the usual things; crash damage, worn tires and cables.
They have a sweet sounding engine if they are running properly.
I would buy another one in a heartbeat if I didn't already have one.

Hello Wes; Yup it looks pretty much just like mine, but grey (mine's black) I have a Corbin seat and Luftmeister 2 into 1 exhaust. I have an after market gear shifter that has a sidestand attached to the same plate. I have Craven bags too. I wonder if yo have the engine front cover painted black. Mine is painted black and I have never seen another one with black rocker covers and a black front cover over the alternater..

to my ears it sounds wonderful - but I don't have another airhead to compare it to. Much better sounding that my '98 GS.
