I've searched around this forum, found out a lot about the 'wildlife' and food in Wisconsin and of course, being a Packer fan I'm ready to make my pilgrimage ... but I haven't located "WHERE" the rally will be held ... Milwaukee? Madison? Green Bay?

I've likely overlooked something here ... and perhaps since I didn't come out to VT I've not gotten "the memo" :huh

Thanks for you help!

For Mapquest purposes, find West Bend, WI, and you are there.

West Bend is about 40 minutes NW of Milwaukee, WI.

Here (http://jeff.dean.home.att.net/2007_rally.htm) is a preliminary site put up by Jeff Dean for the rally.

Care to share your find? You can always PM me if you wish. I tried to find a B&B but didn't have much luck a few weeks back.

Just some hopeful helpful information for anyone. You can either go via the web to request a booklet for www.wisconsinlodging.info or call 1-262-782-2831 for the Wisc. Innkeepers Association for places to stay allover Wisc. Or www.wbba.org or call 1-715-539-9222 for the Wisc. B&B directory.

Hope this helps.

How come the only roads with turns have those little hash marks across the black lines? :p

Michael -

Jeff Dean's map does not include the secondary roads. We try to keep those a secret - it keeps the 4-wheelers off the best-kept secret in Wisconsin.

If you can, plan to be at the November Board meeting early, and I'll show you what I mean. :)

It was fun putting it together. There were a lot of local riders who helped by taking the pictures.

The movie clip [in the middle of the video] was shot on one of the Rustic Roads. Brian was in the front, I was in the middle, and my son Chris was the third bike with the camera.

Pretend it's a real rally. Bring a tent and camp.

I was at the Washington County fairgounds yesterday for a dog show and I think people are going to be quite surprised at what a nice place this is going to be for the National Rally. Lots of space for camping, very modern buildings Right off the highway. I for one can't wait to partake in the festivites.

Has every one noticed the 2007 BMW MOA Rally site (http://www.bmwmoa.org/rally/rally07/rally07announce.htm) on the home page?

Rallies are made for camping. I hoteled it in Spokane, WA (my first) I know I missed too much having to ride out seven-miles sober just to spend more time with SO in the room. (We spend enough time together the rest of the year). Second rally Burlington, VT camped with a great bunch of forum regulars, never felt like I missed the rally and the people. I could close the beer tent and still find my way back to the tent, (Well Almost, but that's a story I won't tell) but it was still more fun that way... :thumb

I don't know that I'm going yet, however Sue's video does show promissing adventure... :dance

Great slideshow/video Sue, thanks... :thumb

If I go, it's definately a camping trip at the rally... :eat :buds :clap

Thanks for the great video Sue! :clap After 5 rallys in a row I wasn't sure if I'd make the effort next year. Now after watching the video and remembering the wonderful job you did in Ohio, I'm in!

Hi gang. I spent some time last week researching some lodging near the rally (I know it's heresy not to camp, but some of my club's members have physical problems or just an aversion to tenting in hot, sticky midwest summers and they asked me to check).

I decided to make this post because clicking on a link can be easier for those less comfortable with computers. The rally site actually appears to be just outside Jackson, Wisconsin so the Mapquest search function of "Find nearby : Hotels " near Jackson was the key, and will give you over 150 choices (including B & Bs). Most smaller ones do not have websites, so you have to let your fingers do the walking/dialing.

http://www.mapquest.com/maps/map.adp?formtype=address&latlongtype=findit&address=&city=Jackson&state=WI&zipcode=&country=US&latitude=kWD3Yzd8ROA%3d&longitude=ZUxYm%2bWypiI%3d&cat=Hotels

Just a few notes based on my cursory search: Major lodging in West Bend was getting really tight for the rally period (and expensive compared to towns slightly to the south). The small motels I called which are near the rally site, Jackson Motel and Cedar Lake Motel in Slinger, WI, won't take reservations until May 1st and June 1st respectively). The owner of the Cedar Lake described her operation as having 4 rooms catering to construction workers, she stated the Jackson Motel - which she sometimes refers people to - has 10 to 15 rooms (also catering to construction workers), described the Anderson's Springs Motel (Slinger, WI) as having a few rooms rented only by the week, and she believed the small motel in Hartford, WI (possibly the Silver Bell?) had been damaged by a tornado a couple months ago. She was not familiar with any other small operations in the immediate area, and she suggested Hartford, West Bend, and Germantown as locations with larger chain hotels and more choices. I believe it was the Americ Inn I called in West Bend that had some rooms (listed as being $189 per night, but the clerk said he thought he could do $130 per night), the Americ Inn in Hartford wouldn't take reservations until January 1st due to "a large block being held for some group", and I ended up making some reservations at the Americ Inn in Germantown for $89 per night.

In the experience of our club members, summertime lodging in Wisconsin can be hard to come by at the last minute (particularly don't think you can motor down the highway and roll into a motel at 6 or 7 PM and hope to get a room). Southern / Central Wisconsin is a beautiful area of lakes and parks, and therefore a favorite destination for the crowds from Chicago, as well as Milwaukee, Madison, North/Central Iowa and Illinois, etc..... If you think you may want to get a room, try to make reservations in advance.

Wisconsonites feel free to correct me if I'm wrong, or if you have other suggestions.

having never been to a BMW rally, I must ask, must I pre-register for the rally, what about camping, do I have to have a reservation, if so how early.

Thanks for any info. I plan on attending.

Hi Bill :wave

A rally is what being a member of this club as all about. Whether it's the National or a local rally.

No, you don't need to pre-register, but if you do you will usually save a few bucks. Like $10.00 and the line is shorter when you check in.

Camping is the way to go, unless you are bringing someone who would rather have clean sheets and a hot shower. If planning to stay in lodging for the National, start looking now, it will fill up fast. If you reserve a room and then need to cancel at the last minute, you can post the available room here in the weeks leading up to the rally and dump it for sure.

I've only been to two-nationals for the MOA, one BMW RA National, and one local state rally Top-of-the-Rockies in Colorado.

I stayed in a hotel the first time and would not do that again, too much fun on the grounds until late at night.

I've been to 17 MOA Nationals, about 10 RA Nationals, and a bunch of area rallies. I have ALWAYS camped at the rally--there's too much fun at a rally that I might miss if I stayed off-site. Besides, it easier to walk from the bier tent than it is to drive from it. :buds :bottle :dance

The Board of Directors of the BMW MOA will meet at the Washington County Fair Park for their tour on Saturday morning, November 4th at 9 AM sharp. The purpose for this tour is really meant to be a communication time between the rally chairs and the board. By 11 AM, the board will need to leave, returning to the hotel for their meetings.

Interested local riders are also welcome to join us for the walk-through. After the board departs, Brian and I will stay and answer everyone's questions. (If we can)

The board also welcomes the members to come on over to the Clairmont Inn (http://www.clairemontinn.com) for the board meeting itself. This is your rare opportunity to see your board in action, and to address the board directly. Board meeting starts at noon.

The Washington County Fair Park (http://www.wcfairpark.com ) is located just north of Jackson, on the intersection of Hwy 45 and Hwy PV.

Can we pin this topic, so it's easier to find where the rally is? Some of us haven't been paying close attention.... :wave
