I just got home from a week in Watkins Glen. From the State Park, we spent 4 days riding roads in the area west of WG.
Favorite ride: Route 22, about 8 mi due west of WG. It runs N-S between Rt 16 and Rt 226. Off camber hairpin reminds me of Laguna Seca....
Rt 119: runs along the Canisteo River from Addison to Canisteo (Delorme p44 B1)
Rt 16 from WG Racetrack west (turns in Rt 26 at the Steuben Cty line)--this will get you to points south without entering a city or village.
Others: Rt 23 (just NW of WG; Delorme p45 A6); Rt 415 (Delorme p45 C4); Rt 417 (Delorme p44 D3); Rt 53 (Delorme p44 A3); Rt 226 (Delorme p45 A5).
NY main roads 14, 414, 14A, 17: I try to stay off the beaten path but I know that traffic ran ~70 mph while I was on them last week.
Y'all have fun at the FL Rally, school starts for me in 2 days and I'll be busy on Labor Day weekend.
