Need the size of the OEM alternator belt for a 1996 R11XXGS.

It will be a 4K611 belt. 4 ribs wide and
611 mm long. I just replaced mine with a gatorback from goodyear.

How has that 4K611 Gatorback worked out for you? I'm going to replace mine and I thought I'd find out.

It's holding up great Dragon. I just looked it up and mine is a 4040245 Gatorback.

As it turned out that belt will be carried as a spare. ;)

Thanks for the feedback and especially the part#! I've been making a few calls this afternoon and w/o the part#, getting the same belt was proving to be a bit of a problem.

I think the new segmented serpentine belts will flex better around
our pulleys and may last longer. Guess we'll see.

Would that part number for the alternator belt be the same for a 1998 R1100GS? Also, at what intervals is it recommended to change the belt?

Yes. same belt for the '98 GS I think the interval (which has varied several times) is now at 26K miles.
