hi all

first of all this is my first thread cause i have just joined moa, so cong. for me.
my wife and i are planning a round the world trip starting on march 2007, we choose to ride on two f650 dakar and we are thinking of buying them in the states, so our Q is what is needed in order to register a bike in the usa, can a forgien citizen register a bike in the usa?

Vehicles are registered by state, not at the National level. It seems purchasing in the US would be very complex without a US address, and laws vary by state. Separately you will need to investigate licensing requirements. Have you considered renting a MC while in the States? This may be a less complicated option.

Gail is correct, licensing is determined by each state, not at a national level. In addition, I would think that most any state will need a permanent US address. Thus, while you may not need to be a US citizen, you may need to be a permanent resident here to buy and register a bike in any of the states. Good luck. :thumb
