I remember seeing a post about raising stock seats on late model "R" bikes with some sort of optional clips that are available at dealerships.

Who has experience with these clips? How far did they raise the seat? Overall, did they do what you wanted? Cost?

Take off the seat and look at the part where the rubber bumpers rest, the part with three different resting heights depending on where you want to adjust the seat. Then, notice that those parts are bolted on. You can remove those bolts and make metal shims to stick under the part. Very easy to do and you can use metal strips from the hardware store. I used a little aluminum bar stock, cut it, clamped three pieces together and drilled them, then installed the bracket on top of them. Works great and you won't slide forward in your seat anymore. There are postings with pictures that you can find I think both on this site and on others on the web about going about this, but if you take your seat off and look it will be pretty obvious what you want to do.

That is exactly how it has to be done. How much you have to lift it is personal preference... :clap
