sticking throttle

After putting my tank back on, i have surging issues. I can turn the handlebars side to side with no real cable pull, but i'm thinking i must have caught the crossover cable under the tank on my 94 R1100RS? These are also the original cables at 39k miles, so the shift may have just accentuated an existing problem, ie old cables needing replacement?

unfortunately, i burned a small hole in my Joe Rocket textile jacket while peeking up under the fairing to see if the cables were caught! :doh
