The VIN on an 84 R80RT is on the lower right frame tube somewhere below the carb and cylinder. If you are looking specifically for the engine part of the VIN it is the last 7 numbers of 17 alpha numerics. My 84s start with WB10... . Hope it is the same for the 85s

On my 87 R80 the engine number is stamped in a machined area on the frt left lower section of the block right above the oil pan just in front of the cylinder.

Yes and it will be on an '84, too, depending on the month of production, and very likely there on any '85. Engine numbers in this location have NO relationship to chassis, i.e. VIN numbers.

This number is essentially meaningless, and of course there is no such thing as an "engine VIN number," as engine vehicle identification number is a senseless phrase. It's a serial number.

The number for licensing is indeed the VIN number, and it's on the sticker somewhere on the right side, probably driveshaft.
