Had a tough decision a few days ago. Should I mow the lawn and detail the bike or go for a ride?
I decided that the grass would continue to grow in any case so if I waited I would save gas. That is good for the environment.
The bike is only going to get dirty again so I will wash it later and save water now which is good for the environment.
I went for a ride along route 9N, route I-87, 28, 8 and along Glen Athol road. If you want to go along for the ride:

Nice pictures!
I was in your area on Thursday. I traveled from my home in Madison Co. east out Rt. 20 and into Troy to Max BMW for some new tires. Then I traveled up the northway to Warrensburg. Rt. 9 to 28 to 8 and then south into Speculator. Then south into Poland, Utica, and back home. Nice day trip! I have spent many days in and around Speculator, Indian Lake, etc. some of my favorite hikes are in that area. I however have never been anywhere north or east of speculator... Beautiful! No traffic, and the roads are in great shape! Other than a few brief thundershowers, the day was nearly perfect!

Have you ever stopped and visited Heid's? Has to be one of the most unique BMW service centers anywhere. They could probably build several airheads from the parts on hand.

Great report Paul... thanks.
Heid's looks like the kind of BMW shop that I used to love. I guess I understand the move to the "corporate" dealership, but the mom & pop-style suits me better.
I spent 3 days in the Adirondacks ahead of the rally this year, what a great place to go and relax.
Thanks again for taking time to post this report.

Heid's is a kind of Aerodrome. Bill's first love are the airheads although the shop does well with all bikes up to about 2005. After that the comuter rules and you need all the whiz bang equipment just to change the brake fluid.
Heid's could easily build an airhead from all the parts they have in store. And the occassional part that don't have Bill turns to the lathe and milling machine to make.
Ride north of Lake George the terrain turns into that geology that combines NY, VT and Maine. It's all small towns, mountains and rushing streams and rivers. I want to return in winter to take pictures again of the same places. Not sure I will ride the 650 or the K75. Maybe the R100 with sidecar might make it. Actually all the bikes could do the trip. The rider is another story
Visit Heid's area in the fall for some spectacular foliage scenery. And if you stop by Johnsburg ride down Garnet Lake road to say hello to Bill and Terri.
