New to the BMW org and want to get some actual high milage feedback on replacement windshields for the 2003 R1150RT i bought back in late March. Already got the bar backs (worth ever cent i spent), for my lower back. I'm now looking for the BEST replacement windshield out there. I've been to most of the web sites but I want to hear it from the guys who are spending the time in the saddle. (14K miles and counting on my 1st BMW)

I ride between 35 to 40K miles a year and want the wind and noise to go away. (coming from 700K miles on GW's)....

Looking for all suggestions...

Thanks,

K Smith 57

I'd look at the Parabellum windshield or maybe a Cee Bailey's.

Maybe I should install the original w/shield to test it, but my RT came with a CeeBailey's windshield and I think it's great, I'm 6'1" and need to raise it up about 2" to keep the blast out of my eyes.

I highly recommend the Cee Bailey #2 with the Euro cut in light grey. Not only is it functional, but it looks great.

I absolutely agree, and if you wait a couple more weeks I will sell you a very nice used one cheap. Contact me via email if interested.

I just installed this one on my R1200RT. It is taller and wider than the stock windscreen. The windflow is away from your head and shoulders. It appears to be very strong material compared to the stock screen. I was always afraid of breaking mine when I used the Plexus to remove bugs, tar and dirt. The VStream is very sturdy.

Here's the Cee Bailey Euro Cut held up against the stock shield. I think mine is 2" over, but I'd have to find my original order. I thought you might like to see the comparison between the two.

And here is a side view. That up-swept top is what makes all the difference as compared to the stock which curves back towards the rider.

Without question ... PARABELLUM
at least 30% cheaper than the other two aftermarket brands.

www.parabellum.com (http://www.parabellum.com)

I had one on my '04 1150RT ... GREAT piece, GREAT workmanship, GREAT price and better at nearly everything than my CeeBailey unit which it replaced.

I am very happy with my CB on my 1100rt. The jury is still out on the CB on my 12rt. I think I went too big. All the way down I get no wind; will put on stock for July and August riding. It certainly is not as sexy looking as the Ztechnic.

I put an Aeroflow on this spring. I am 6’ 1” and it is perfect for me. I ordered direct from Aeroflow and the service was good. I didn’t want something that looked like I had glued one windscreen onto another. And as far as the performance, the only thing I can compare to is the stock BMW screen, and for me it really made a huge difference. There is no buffering if adjusted properly. I just found my rides to be more enjoyable -less noise, back felt better, etc.

The CeeBailey and Aeroflow units are nice pieces ... IF you want to pay 25-30% more money than the Parabellum. I've owned 2 Parabellums and 1 ea CeeBailey and Aeroflow. The Parabellums are just as good or better in workmanship and aero assistance for less money.

I've tried (2) CeeBaileys a +2 euro and a +3 euro both shaded in light gray, with the +2 in the lowest positon and under motion the wind pressure caused the shield to press against the painted surface and scar the paint. I've tried Parabellum, it is truly optically clear............I just didn't like the thickness or lack thereoff. But don't get me wrong it is very nice. I've gone back to the OEM oversize plus 2".

I'm 6'5", and I have a 99R1100RT with a stock windscreen. When I sit up straight, the wind blast hits my helmet at eye level. So, I'm thinking about a taller replacement windscreen.

What's the best replacement windscreen for a tall rider?

I am satisfied with the Aeroflow I purchased about 3000 miles ago. Much less wind noise than stock and way better protection in cold weather.

The CB no. 2 is the most popular but if you live where it is HOT I recommend the no. 1. It doesn't have the flip and is 1" narrower than the no. 2. I wanted wind on my arms to shoulder area for cooling. the no.1 4" higher gives me smooth air flow to the top of my helmet at about 1/2 way up and all the way down hits just below chin level. I have an older CB model that is quite a bit wider higher up on the windshild and it was just too hot for TEXAS. The older one also had the flip and my impression is that I got more turbulance than with the smaller shield.
