I've downloaded all the documents found about doing my own valve adjustment on my R1100RT, but I found no mention of replacing the valve cover gaskets!
Is that a given, or do you folks really re-use the gasket when you button up after the adjustment is done?
thanks in advance,

The gasket is rubber and is reuseable several times - till it starts to leak. Same with the "donut" gasket at the spark plug tunnel.

You may want to have a set on hand in case they tear when you take them off. I've had that happen to a spark plug gasket before.

This is from me - a not-too-terribly-mechanical guy. I have done the valves on my bike twice now. I think you would have to work pretty hard at wrecking the gaskets. Not that it isn't a good idea to have some new ones on hand, but if I were you I wouldn't worry too much about replacement.
