View Full Version : Bike Judging

Throughout the rally site, I saw signs that said "HEY, Bike Judging" but the signs contained NO useful information, like time and place. I checked the rally book, but couldn't find any information, except for the Vintage judging. The Bike Judging is only listed in the schedule of events, but "Paddock at Miller Expo" is not on the map, so I could not tell where it was.

I asked at the Hospitality desk, but they didn't know about any judging except for the Vintage bikes. I flagged down a golf-cart and they could only direct me back to Hospitality.

I stumbled upon the judging location after 12pm on Saturday (registration started at 9am, judging ran from 11am-1pm) and I was told it was too late to enter my bike.

My recommendations:
1) The signs need to have more information.
2) Each committee/team should type up a page of essential information about their own area of responsibility and these could be made into a training guide/quick reference booklet for volunteers, especially those at Hospitality.

Disclaimer: I was a little frustrated, but basically, I'm just looking to make an improvement for next year.

Gene,
Sorry to hear of your experience over the Bike Judging.
As organizers, we had some frusrtating moments too. As a "helper" on the Bike Judging thing I can only offer the following explanation...Info on the Bike Judging was submitted for publication months ago in the rally program book but for some unknown reason it never got published. We only discovered that fact when we arrived on Thursday and read the program. No info was offered from past bike judging organizers so we had to make it all up on the fly.Your suggestions on better signage and communication at other committee teams are a great idea. We'll pass them on to improve next years event.
Thanks for your input.
