I enjoyed the rally immensely. My brother from Penn. was able to attend. I also met up with many CRVBMW club members and a good time was had by all. Friday morning my bother and I were walk around stopped to drink our coffee and eat a muffin. I put my my wallet next to me on the bench. Finished the coffee and muffin and continued on. Fifteen minutes later I discovered my wallet missing and had no idea where it was. I checked where we had been and to no avail. Of course panick set in and my brother being a MOA member many years said don't worry someone will turn it in. Went to lost and found and it was not there but left cell phone numbers to call us. An hour later my brother calls me and says, "do you want your wallet?" Do bears poop in the woods?! To Mark Faulise, Thank you for your honesty! Nothing was missing. This was one reason I joined the BMW crowd because of the integrity and caring of all (aside from one hell of a bike (K1100RS). A better crowd I could never find. Again Mark Faulise, many Thanks, Bob Hearn MOA #115330 rhearn2540@charter.com p.s.-bought a fanny pack and will be with me from now on! Also got a knew tire from the "tire nazi" and a Sparroe Air pump. Oh, boy more toys!

I left my raffle tickets on the table at the County Store. Had them all filled out and everything. When I walked back up the nice lady said she had had them taken down and deposited in the correct boxes for me. Thanks.... john shuck

My g/f also left a paper bag with several purchases at a vendor booth right before our lunch. When we got finished with lunch, panic ensued, naturally. :) I said, "Don't worry, it's a BMW Rally, it's either EXACTLY where you left it or at the Lost & Found. :D Sure enough, someone gave it to the last vendor she was at and had it waiting in hand.

Where else can you leave your bags unlocked and the key in the ignition for 4 days without even thinking about worrying (too much)? :rocker

I had a similar incident with my wallet.. I was enjoying a mug of suds in the beer tent, and when I exited, I realized I was missing my wallet. By the time I went back to see if I had left it in the beer tent, then to the lost/found to report it missing, and then back to my tent to see if it was in my pack, there was a gentleman standing at my tent with my wallet in hand (I left my tent number and location just in case I did misplace it). Turns out he found it in stall 3 of the mens washroom. (note to self - sew a dang button on the back pocket of jeans)

Everything, and I mean all my cash, credit cards, debit card, drivers license, health card, birth certificate, were all present and accounted for.. WOW ! I offered him a reward, I think he was insulted, but I did buy him a few rounds of beers..

If you're reading this Jim, thanks again.

Since I am local and this would probably be the only time my non riding spouse would get a chance to see a national rally, I conned her into camping on Wednesday night when only the 500 volunteers were there. Of course only 500 campers was not too impressive and I wanted her to come hear some of the next bands so she camped again on Friday. Quite a different sight from Wed. with now about 6000 campers!

I think she had a reasonably good time considering her lack of interest in motorcycles, but her one comment surprised me because I expected nothing less of us, she said it was the best (don't quote me here) large group of people she had ever seen. She said anywhere else she would have been a little nervous of walking to the bathroom in the dark in such a large, close quartered group, but this didn't bother her.

I don't know what she expected, a large, drunk, noisy, obnoxious crowd or what. What kind of people does she think I hang aroud with anyway?

You all may have blown it for me, now she'll want to ride on the back all the way to Wisconsin!

So, hat's off to all for such a good group and a great time. See you in Wisconsin and on the road. :thumb

She probably thought we were a bunch early days Hell's Angels :nra. I have been in MOA and with BMW bikes for only 2 years and I haven't run in to a bad egg yet. Except for me before I have had my coffee in the morning ;)

Interesting insight, I have to agree. My 13 year old son went all over the place alone and I had no second thoughts. I got the feeling immediately that there would always be people looking out for him if the need presented itself, which never did, btw. What a great group you all are.

Inadvertently lost my riding jacket at the gas station outside the fairgrounds on Saturday morning. As I rode back into the Rally, I realized that I didn't have it.

Since you could only make a r.h. turn I parked the bike and hustled to the fuel stop . . . no jacket. Walked across the street Mc D's (breakfast bagel b4 gas!) and no coat!

I spotted a volunteer back at the entrance and asked where Lost & Found was. He was headed that way and we chatted about the honesty of the riders at the Rally.

Walking into the building, I saw another volunteer holding up my new jacket and I exclaimed that he would find a new pair of mesh riding gloves the l.h. pocket.

The "finder" was still there and just turned it in after finding it at the gas station and trying to button up his bike and saw mine parked at the entrance.

Thanks to all the "good guys", volunteers and a treat from Mother Nature for a Puma [No Moose, just a Mountain Lion] sighting on the way to Glens Falls!!!

Unfortunately not everything makes it to lost & found. My wife had a nice pair of Bolle sunglasses slip out of their case in the vendors building & they left the rally with a new owner.

Reading these comments about lost and found items is the kind of feedback we like. I was Co-Chair of Communications including the Lost and Found service.

Happily we were able to reunite many lost items with their owners including cameras, cell phones, credit cards and more. Try this success story: a rider lost his top case while on the road locally, it bounced down a gully spilling its contents. :banghead A local resident saw this and went and gathered everything including the riders passport, then gave it to another BMW rider from the rally.

That rider brought it to lost and found about a half hour after the person reported it missing. That night I overheard a friend talking on a cell to another of his friends about a missing topcase. I interupted his conversation long enough to say it had come in to Lost and Found. Next day case and rider reunited. :D

Despite our success stories we always have a collection of items that go unclaimed. I suggest that if you are missing something check with the MOA office in a while. Some items come to us after you may have already inquired. We strongly encourage people attending the rally to put address labels and/or cell phone numbers on cameras, eyeglass cases, cell phones, in a jacket pocket, wallets, and anything else that would make it easier for us to identify them and get them back to you.

Glad we could be of service.

Bill

We have the lost and found box at the office. If any of you lost something, call or email (ea@bmwmoa.org) and we'll see if we've got it.

I misplaced a small personal fortune in small unmarked non sequential bills. Have you seen it?
