from the bottom of the carb. I've almost completed the restoration of my '82 R65LS. Got the TwinMax out tonight to fine-tune the carbs and encountered a problem that I thought I had solved a couple of months ago. When the bike was sitting in the garage on the center stand - engine not running - gas petcock on, gas started dripping from bottome of the left carb. Couldn't tell exactly where it was coming from, but it was dripping off the bottom of the float bowl. I rebuilt both carbs over the winter - cleaning, new o-rings, gaskets, diaphrams, etc. The bike runs fine, idles smoothly and does not leak when parked with the petcock off. Is this a sticking float bowl or should I look elsewhere? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Sounds like your float is sticking. Chances are, you have sediment in the fuel that is getting caught and holding the float down which allows more fuel into the bowl. The fuel is then going out through the overflow. Do you have a filter on the line? If not, put one in. If so, dump the fuel in the bowl and jiggle the float to coax out the sediment.
Hope it helps.

Yes, I installed a filter when I put the bike back together. When I had this type of leak a couple of months ago, I removed the bowl - there was no sign of sediment. I just dried it out, put it back together and didn't see a problem until tonight.

Use something like "Tinactin Antifungal Aerosol Powder Spray"
Spray it around the carb. When it leaks it will leave a track back to the source.
