Hurricane Isabel was a mean ol' woman, but after ten-plus days, I have power again... big thanks to all the linemen who came from all over to help us out, working 12-16 hours a day in always lousy and usually dangerous conditions!!

We've been living on candles & charcoal for the whole time, plus making coffee out of the kit I take with me on bike trips. It's not so bad when you're ready for it, and some people had it a lot worse than I did, but it's damn NICE to turn on a couple lights and crank the stereo again... woo-HOOO!!

Living in Paradise as the Florida Keys are nicknamed has its pitfalls too. As a few years ago, Huricane George removed part of my roof and killed the electrics for 5 days in my area, and for 10 plus days in the lower Keys, I know about survial on campgear and a generator.:help
However as there were no deaths involved and just material things got damaged it was an adventure with a good ending.:bliss
I know what you and the thousands in you area went through and the help from total strangers is amazing. Sort of like the biker community, when someone needs help it seems that a lot of people will help out and that is what it is all about, and feels good too:clap
